So he's eligible for any contract offer from an NHL team?

Yes. I do believe the Marlies would have to release him from his AHL deal, but that is more of a formality. NHL teams don't want bad blood with agents and players, and usually if they aren't willing to offer an ELC for a guy, they don't think that highly of him in the first place. They are not going to get worked up over losing an AHL contract guy that they did not think was worth an NHL contract.

So if he gets playing time and looks legit, Leafs would likely have to offer him an entry level to keep him.

What I'm saying is that he isn't a Leafs asset, he's a Marlies asset.

The title does say Marlies, so there should be no confusion.
