Marlies, Cyclones, and Prospect Discussion

Keaton Middleton with less offense:) Still they must have liked his year and you may as well gamble on powerful trees when you have enough skillful dwarves. I have no idea who he is except for recent internet so yes I like it. :thumbu:

I remember Middleton pretty well, he had some things going for him but his mobility was always questionable

If this guy can skate he's got something going for him

Gotta like a big d-man that can skate

Even if these college UFA’s have a low ceiling, they could fill important roles down the line. Lack of picks so you need to add when you can

The fact he can skate with that size is intriguing. Speed is what separates a lot of players ability to actually make it, if we can check that box now, he’s a good project to invest in.

Well he wasnt drafted .so if he makes the marlies its a good start
But some players take more time to simplify their game
Some of these overage ohl players going to college are gonna get better and maybe tesms will find more bottom six undrafted players

He's an OHL kid, not a college UFA.

Athletic called him toughest player in the OHL. He can hit, fight.. skates pretty well.

Still hurts to see Belak’s name.

….. but I fixed the totals using Belak-approved mathematics, or Belakian math, if you will.

RIP big man.

Grade A power play, highlight reel goal for Nick Abruzzese. Attacked the zone, split the D, got a shot off and put home his one rebound after getting hauled down. Beauty. WillyNeuve got an assist for not doing much .

Hildebeast gets the start in an important game.

Haymes/Prokop not playing, experienced lineup. Playing smart so far.

3-0 Marlies after 2.
Goals from WillyNeuve (apples to NickA and Steeves) and a late period dagger from AkexStyles (from Abruzzese and Quillan) after a tough and dangerous pk.
Much more steady effort. Keeping CLE to the perimeter, and nothing dangerous 5-on-5.
Top line MastrosimoneQuillanSteeves in shutdown mode against Monsters top line.
Hildebeast so solid this game, tracking and moving well, but big and quiet. NickA having a game.

Wyatt Schingoethe won the NCAA National Championship and had a goal and assist. Looked pretty good which I was surprised by seeing his stats the last few years. I assume we don't have much time to sign him if we do but if we do it's probably because of this Championship game.

He's one I hope gets an AHL/ECHL look, and go from there.

His stats paint a bleak picture, but that's not why you'd be playing him

Yeah could be an interesting prospect. At best he's a energy 4th line guy in the mold of a Lomberg or a player like that who. At worst he's a career AHLer. Definitely a long shot but he is the type of player coaches like and eventually get a shot because of it.

What a disaster that 2020 draft has unfolded to be, 12 picks and basically nothing to show 5 years later. The most talented player died tragically while nobody else has really lived up to any hype or done anything noteworthy. Niemela might not be in the org soon, Hirvonen's production is disappointing, Tverberg took a big step back after a good rookie AHL year, Miettinen and Schingoethe are nothing, AA started the season red hot but cooled off considerably after (though being a goalie he has more time), jury's out on Miller and Fusco, Ovchinnikov no longer in the system. Only Villeneuve may be of any use to us in the near future.

He wasn't at the last few Dev Camps, so I doubt the Leafs/Marlies/Cyclones will be the ones to sign him. He should get some type of Pro deal though - definitely ECHL and maybe AHL if an org values him enough for it.

Seems like TOR isn't signing going to be signing any of their internal picks and turning them Pro (any NCAA picks, Holinka & McCue included). It might just be Cowan, Chadwick and their UDFA signings making that jump next year.
