He's a much better skater than Schenn imo, Schenn looked like he was pulling a cart

Schenn wasn't a terrible skater, until he thought he had to bulk up to become more physical. He put on something like 20 pounds one off season, and then he was skating in quick sand.
Schenn looked very promising after his rookie season, unfortunately we ruined the kid and it took him years to get back to a useful player

He also had bad tendinitis that plagued him. I remember Gary Roberts was criticizing the Leafs S&C staff at the time saying they had them riding the bike too much. Interesting times

Near the end, 46-48 second mark Chadwick gets in an upper cut that landed.
I think that did the damage.

He just came off of a 65 game point streak 29 of them this season. He has been taking faceoffs. He has been playing the point on the powerplay learning how to play better without the puck. While the volume of points has decreased, the quality of play hasn't. London has a great development staff.

Perhaps the same reason why he looked worse in preseason?
I'll speculate ... too much effort to get bigger and stronger, not enough to improve skill and speed.
And yes, as above, Leafs' goals unlikely concerned with more junior points, and more other aspects required to be a NHL player.
