How has Grebenkin looked ever since being sent back down? I haven’t heard much about him at all…
The new haircut looks good.

You can see the talent when he’s active, he’s making an effort to get to the slot to make plays, which is good.

He’s moved around lines too, so hasn’t had real long stretches to develop chemistry with anyone.

The two way energy seems to come and go.

Can anyone who watches the Marlies/Cyclones tells us more about Chas Sharpe. Does he have the potential to jump to the Marlies? Guy has a cannon of a shot. Is a 6’3 RHD. How is he defensively?
For anyone with FloSports, the Cyclones play today at 1:30.
I’ll try and watch.
I think the biggest barrier right now is opportunity in the A.
The team has Niemela, Villeneuve still, both viable offensive RHD prospects. Benning is kicking around. Tommy Miller is a good A player. Nick Mattinen is in the rotation. So, already 4 guys with NHL deals in the rotation.
Great bet for 25-26 for sure when Mattinen peels away and with something likely to give with Topi.

Definitely see Quillan being an effective fourth liner on the leafs in a couple of seasons
I think that floor is pretty likely, but he’s got some skill.
I’m not projecting this ceiling, but Zach Hyman could be a nice comp for him or goal at least. He’s got good wheels, a good motor, good hands, goes to dirty areas with speed. A lot of the skills that could make him a good complementary player up the lineup.
That should be the development goal with guys in the A. Not so much be first or second line drivers, but complements to those skill sets.

Cyclones won 2-1, on a legit heater lately.
Sharpe looked fine defensively. Had some snarl around the net, good outlets most of the time, seemed comfortable with the puck. Skating looked good, decent mobility and edges. Didn’t get eyes on any bursts of speed, so no comment there. Positioning seemed fine. No huge defensive lapses, one lazy pass that didn’t end up hurting. Didn’t seem to get too much time starting in the D zone or pk. The shot gets through.
At least for one game, to an untrained eye.
Other players:
Marko Sikic scored both goals, on an AHL deal with the Marlies. More of a north south guy, he’s pretty big and has good speed.
Ty Voit had the most creativity and best hands on the ice, pretty easily. Great vision at that level. But ya, he’s pretty small.
Kressler played the kinda game you’d expect. Two way, quick, good defensive awareness.
Sikic the only Marlie/Leaf to hit the scorecard.
The goalie there was quick and made some ‘oohh’ level saves too.

Amazing! Thank you for this. Will definitely try and follow. I’m heading to the Marlies school game with my class so it’ll be nice to catch some of these guys live in February.

I don't know that much about him, to be honest. Good shooter, good skater, and 6'4! Is it just consistency or something else lacking in his game? He started off pretty good in the NHL but then just faded away.
Yeah I think it's more to do with he wasn't consistent enough when it came to using his size. He's a big body who was probably one of the better skaters in his draft class and if he ever learned to use his size better he had a lot of potential. Could still be a pretty good bottom 6 depth scorer but if he could become more of a power forward type of player with his speed and offensive skills then I'm sure a lot of teams would love him in their top 6. I haven't seen him play in a while so who knows if this is the case, but giving him an AHL deal and working with him the rest of the year maybe he can turn into something for us next year. He's at that age where it seems like more and more players breakout so it's definitely worth a shot.
