He has better 4 way skating than any of the defensive D comparables, arguably not even just at the same age but him today vs them as NHLers. Not only the skating in a vacuum but the way he picks up speed laterally to legally accelerate into hits without taking himself out of position. Imo if he hits his potential it’s closer to young Phaneuf if you trade the shot for IQ, maybe a Beauchemin type.
That would be a homerun ... Phaneuf or Beauchemin.

Purely top end upside if he can keep getting better and manage top pair minutes, but imo the non-bust downside where he’s a #5 is still more interesting than a generic stay at home D because of how he uses his skating.

I think Rielly is a good indicator that skating can cover up quite a few deficiencies.

Can Chas skate?

He got in a game with the Marlies last year right before the playoffs where they let the ECHL guys play. He looked solid, good foot speed and positioning, works hard, good size, I can see him playing his way into an NHL contract if he gets the opportunity.

Un-possible, not enough PP 2nd assists

I know +/- isn't everything but he had a really bad start to the year coming off the concussion...I think he was like -10 or even -16 at one point.

He's now even, his season seems to have turned around quite a bit.

Nice win for the Marlies today. Controlled play for the first two periods and really poured it on in the third just like the Buds last night. Helped that the Moose goalie was a lil shaky.

2nd star Jacob Quillan had a goal and an assist for the second day in a row, William Villeneuve with two assists, and Grebs and his new haircut got an assist. Other goals for Nylander, Barbollini, Pare and Marshall Rifai. Other apples by NickA, Logan Shaw, and Mikko Kokkonen.

Matt Murray was star #1 with his second shutout in a row.

Hirvonen and Tverberg dnp.

Great to see Quillan start to heat up. Had a really slow start, but if can maintain decent offensive production, he could certainly be a 4C for the Leafs in the future. Good size and defensive acumen.

Agree. Also in his favor is that he’s got some pretty good wheels and he’s got a nose for the net. Even earlier in the year, he was getting a good chance or two a game. Not afraid of dirty areas.
He’s developing pretty well. Could be a legit option by next year.

Im really liking Barbolini's game, always plays hard, great speed, not afraid of hitting and going into corners, and now finally showing up on the scoreboard. I have him as another guy that could play himself onto an NHL contract if given the opportunity, possibly a Lorentz type player.
