Some tidbits:

1) David Desharnais:

was he not hurt while playing in Europe this winter? That would explain a slow start.

2) Lars Eller:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lars_Eller#Career_statistics

When you look at his career stats, I can't believe some see top 6 potential in this kid. When has he ever showed that level of talent?

I mean yes he was a former first round pick... but there might have been a reason why he was traded.

I can't see him play center in the top 6. The only role I saw him play well was in a defensive minded 3rd line. Problem is, our three first lines are all about offense right now... so again a fit problem.

Maybe with injuries, he will center a defensive 3rd line again.

For the skeptics, here are David Desharnais career stats:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Desharnais#Career_statistics

At every level played, David Desharnais has produced significantly more than Eller.

player scouting by stats? rookie mistake bro...

While I'm as thrilled as anyone about the way Markov has played, you need to realize teams will key on him.

That means more hits in the D zone when they chip pucks past his side. We need Subban back to help take some of the load off him!

With Patches back and PK signed our lineup will look even better!

Bourque ---- Pleky ---Gio
Prust---Gally--BGally
Moen---Eller---Armstrong

David Desharnais had a "lower body injury" in october and december 2012 while playing in Europe:

http://forecaster.thehockeynews.com/hockeynews/hockey/player.cgi?5027

He also missed one game and was day-to-day in december.

Often, a player that plays less well, will do so because of injury... Just look at Bourque this year.

This beeing said, I have no idea what "lower body injury" means in this case. Groin? Knees?

isn't everywhere for him a lower body injury? :hesreallysmall:

That says March 10 and March 12. Notice right above it says he signed with Fribourg-Gotteron on 11/02/2012 = November 2nd, 2012.

Sorry guys,

the link about Desharnais injury was from march 2012, my mistake.

I still remember hearing that he got injured in Switzerland but can't find a link. Maybe my memory is not so good lol.

yeah...because coaches forgot how talented he is...

if anything, teams have been staying away from emelin and focusing on markov's side. it's a strong pairing, we're lucky to have it.

Great game...It even means that much more anytime we beat Brodeur who always brings his A game when he plays the habs! He has owned us throughout his career.

Bourque with a great effort tonight...needs to make better choices with his shot selections. But loved the effort he is overdue.

Bouillon had a great game as well taken the body and solid d play

Galchenyuk is the real deal and is here to stay...Very smart player beyond his years...He needs more minutes.

Gallagher had another great effort I love this kid always a big smile on his face...looks like a kid at Disney Land.

Prust could be one of the best free agent signings this best off season. This guy is solid and brings so much to the habs. I am going to pick up his Jersey this week!!!

Markov....Early Norris candidate and Masterton favorite?

Price has been solid I hope he gave the post some props beofre the end of the game lol.

Seems like there is some great team chemistry and the guys look like there having fun and it shows.

I know its early but this team is giving me hope. :yo:

Hey guys. Good game tonight. The Habs outworked the Devils for most of the game and deserved the W. Your young guns looked good and it's great to see Markov back and healthy. He is still a top d-man in the league. If you can work something out with Subban, your D looks set.

Thanks for the good words. DeBoer needs to get Larsson in there!

2 things are still bugging me. Bourque and Cole haven't scored yet. We're getting most of our goals from our bottom 6 and from our defense, which can't be sustainable if our top 6 don't start producing.

Pacioretty really got injured in Europe and came back.

Maybe my brain got confused. Anyway, at least Desharnais really got injured last year in March at a lower body location. Maybe he still has not recovered fully.

Great entertaining game tonight it's rare against the Devils. Great win.

Bourque is really playing well, he work so much and he's creating good plays. If it continue I'm really not worrying for him, because he's helping the team so much.

Eller was pretty good tonight, best player by far on his line (Desharnais has to step up and Cole seems to need some time at each season start before playing good) with intensity and some great defensive plays.

Emelin is playing a really sharp game, but I would like to see more big hits like last year :yo:

I wanted Prust on the team for years, I knew he was exactly what we needed. I really wanted the Habs to sign the guy this summer and I was thrilled to see him with the team, even if I thought his salary was a little bit high. Right now I think his salary is just fine thought

I'm so happy for Markov what a great player and such an inspiration.

Gallagher and Galchenyuk are bringing a needed boost in term of overall talent up front in the team.

I see Bourque working his ass off and coming close to scoring. Before tonight, I didn't see that from Cole. Tonight changed though, so I'm hoping Cole continues that way, as does Bourque. Put in the effort night in and night out and eventually the goals will come.

Dave Stubbs mentioned on Twitter that Carey Price nicknamed his goalposts Siegfried and Roy

I think some one's been watching Goon.
