When Bergeron retires we will deal with it then. This years free agent class is a little thin at centre but next years certainly isn't. I wouldn't be upset if the B's made a run at Kadri this year though.
Bruins have maybe $2.5m to spend this summer.

I'm thinking Kadri will get more than that.

Your issue with him seems to be that he's not good defensively,, the thing is not everybody is good defensively some guys are pure offense, and that's OK you need that

William Nylander is a good example of that he's not quite pure offense but he's far from great defensively but he gives you 35 goals and 80 points and you need those guys

not every player is going to be good defensively

I could live with an average defensive C but not lazy/garbage defensive play.

Nylander is also a winger so that’s a different thing. A team acquiring Scheifele would trade for him to be their 1C.

& lack of defense isn’t my biggest issue with Scheifele

Hall -- Scheif -- Pasta

Explosive offensively but explosive diarrhea defensively.

Both Hall and Pasta give effort on the backcheck as per the Bruins system but they aren't great in their own end. Add in a center who's not really willing to do the hard work defensively and you have a recipe for disaster if they aren't scoring goals.

that's why you have other players that can pick up the slack defensively

The New England Patriots have a saying "do your job" they only ask players to do their job, they don't ask players to do things they can't do.

That lines job would be do score goals that's it, that's what they do, that's their job

some guys like Bergeron can do both and that's great.

But some guys are pure offense, their job is to score goals, that's it

that lines job would be to score goals.

I have no idea what Sheif will end up bringing back but just a couple of comments. Sheif wasn't always as horrible defensively as he was this year. While he was never great defensively , his play was forgivable considering what he brought on offense generally and his playoff performances in particular. I believe his attitude and locker room issues mirror that as well. So the real question is, can a different coach, team and system bring him back to what he was a couple of years ago ? And are there GMs out there who believe they have that coach ,team and system ?

Scheif has never been great in his own end but this year I think the issues were even more evident due to a lack of effort. Many nights he just didn't look engaged for whatever reason, especially defensively.

Maybe he just doesn't want to be here anymore for whatever reason? I think if he is moved, the acquiring team will be happy with him not just offensively.

Value is probably highest right no because of contract status.Remember you have to sign PLD soon!Would consider trading him this year.

I’d honestly be more interested in PLD if there are contract troubles. I know Chevy waiting on Trouba so would expect to pay top dollar even if PLD wanted out.
