And they got Lowry in that draft (67th overall), who's 22nd in points in the class...and his value isn't even really in his scoring.
Trouba is 3rd in defenseman scoring from the 2012 class, and 3rd in games played (drafted 9th overall but 7th defenseman taken...). Hellebuyck was also drafted in 2012 (130th overall, the 13th goalie taken), and you could say he's turned out alright.
Morrissey is the 2nd highest scoring defenseman from the 2013 class. Copp is 19th in points for that class as well.
Ehlers is 7th in his class (drafted 9th).
Connor is 6th in his class in point and 4th in goals (drafted 17th). Roslovic (drafted 25th), is 26th in scoring. Appleton is 35th (drafted 168th).
And thus the glorious Golden Age of Comeau came to an end.
Laine in 2016 was drafted 2nd overall and is 6th in scoring. Stanley (18th overall, 5th defenseman drafted) is 13th in defenseman scoring for his class, but he's not really known for his scoring - he's known for...I don't know, being a living embodiment of the sunk cost fallacy?
Samberg and Kovacevic from the 2017 are good players. Not big on points (yet?) but Top 4 NHL defensemen.
Perfetti was drafted 10th and is 9th in scoring for his class but Jarvis, Mercer, Lundell and Peterka were all drafted after him and are currently ahead in scoring.
I'm not saying fire Mark Hillier...but I'm not not saying it...![]()
Very interesting list -- and props to Comeau.
I do think that Perfetti adds value beyond his scoring, though Jarvis in particular ould have been a nice add. Still have faith in the wee man.
Hard to argue with most of those picks from the Golden Age.
