Youtube: Mark Kastelic vs Emil Lilleberg

It wasn't the punch that knocked out Kastelic. At no point did his right hand lose the grip of Kastelic's jersey.
But the grip was just below his head. That doesn't mean he will be unable to punch him, the jersey just followed. Kastelic's head snapped back, but sure maybe it was all the violent ragdolling...

Look...the Viking was just Kastelic's horrible nightmare. You can ask Brayden Schenn too, he also got the same treatment from Lilleberg last week. But he isn't looking for fights, will deliver some solid clean hits though. They should just leave him alone.

Show me literally anyone getting knocked out by a jersey jab. In the thousands of fights I’ve watched I can’t think of a single one. Lilleberg must have the power of Joey Kocur, Colton Orr & Tony Twist combined. Remarkable stuff.

It’s ok to say you’re wrong and it wasn’t a punch that did the damage. We won’t think any less of you.

I remain fully convinced that a punch knocked him out, and as you can see I'm not alone.

Except for when the coach of the team said he hit his head on the ice, but go off.

Just incredible how a punch that was never thrown because he never let go of his jersey can knock a guy senseless.

I already told you his hand never let go of the jersey. So you he landed a KO punch while holding the jersey?

Yeah from getting his head slammed on the ice which I don't give a f*** about. If you don't like old time hockey then you're in the wrong forum.
You must have liked the old Roman Forum...

Your boy got knocked the f*** out after f***ing around

perfect karma

Video speaks for itself
What a cringeworthy response.

Kastelic responds as few players would.

Takes a suspendable crosscheck to the face by a nobody and instead of turtling, drops his gloves to fight.

If people are acting like Kastelic ran him and jumped him right away. That didn't happen.

1) Kastelic did run him late in the game (legal)

2) Kastelic ate a nasty cross-check to the face (illegal)

3) Kastelic dropped the gloves in response to #2... action #3 likely doesn't happen without #2.

#4) Tampa D lifts and slams Kastelic while on ice. That is even dirtier than the crosscheck.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kastelic actually got a cross-check to the throat and that is part of what caused him to lose his balance after owning the start of the fight. I say that because years and years ago I saw a couple guys scrap in college and the first guy just threw up a defensive hand and then was getting drilled with 4-5 punches by the second guy. The bigger 2nd guy didn't take a punch and was in control --then all of a sudden.... went down. It just looked bloody like he was WWE faking it, but it turns out that the one defensive jab that the 1st guy threw caught him in the throat! While guy 2 had a momentum and aggression and adrenaline running, he was throwing punches, but then his lack of oxygen (from the throat-chop) quickly caught up to him, and he went down hard. 2nd guy later said he kinda felt the chop, thought he was fine and then things just started to go black.

**side note: We thought It was a fluke, but it actually turned out that the first guy was a very well-trained karate+++ guy who would now fall under the category of MMA trained.

I wouldn't call Lilleberg a nobody, he already has 4 fights which puts him top 6 in the NHL. And he just obliterated number 2 on that list.

As said before, Kastelic raised Lilleberg's stick. No suspension or fine here.

This fight actually made some media headlines, including a Lilleberg interview. Said he's been active, and still is, in boxing for about a decade. So now all "tough guys" in the NHL have been warned...

Lilleberg didn't slam anybody, he's strong on his skates and is still learning to fight in the NHL, it's not like he's shooting takedowns out there trying to throw guys on their head. Love the willingness, some physical guys like Emelin came over and never wanted to face the music. He'll probably bite off more than he can chew one of these days, but you live & learn. Duhaime, Schenn, Greer (not a major but they still squared off), Kastelic... that's not bad.

It was straightforward, Kastelic wanted to start some shit at the end of the game and he paid a price, that's the risk you run. They're a frustrated team and won't go down quietly, but you can't cry about it after the fact. Tough break for him but that's hockey sometimes. He absolutely wanted that fight, anyone talking about Lilleberg starting this is dumb as a brick. You run around with 2 seconds left, don't expect some kind of "code" or respect, let alone from a rookie who hadn't even thrown a hit or done anything all game.

One of the rare times you see some glimpses of an old-fashioned rivalry...when Swayman went to center ice part of me was hoping Vasilevskiy would oblige but maybe next time.

He didn’t obliterate anyone. He overpowers a guy and pushes him down to the ice, causing him to hit his head.

Kastelic was the only one throwing punches, even if you want to make up lies saying he was knocked out from a punch (that didn’t happen)

Would you say Lilleberg obliterated him if Kastelic popped right back up? Or was it because he was woozy from hitting his head?
