Speculation: Mark Fayne

Maybe the Caps'll sign him too and give him the icetime he deserves. Sad that Oates knows our personnel a lot better than the guys who are actually still here.
 
An almost flawless defensively dman. Should play every night without a doubt. Top 4 for us. Especially considering we have volch, sal, and harrold. Keep him for as long as possible

The larsson and fayne thing to me is INSANE.

I have UFA wants next year if salo retires. Dion Girardi than is Fayne stralman and if cant get none of them go after boyle cause he played in Tampa before. He would be last ditch effort though.

So if a trade late for Fayne could be done so he could be in out top four next year I would listen for sure.

I would listen about Larsson too but hope it really doesnt come to that with you guys.

Is just unreal what is going on to me. I like Merrill also and Santini lol. Hope you guys get it right soon.

A Larsson-Hedman pairing would be nice I think.

Fayne would really be good on the Lightning. We just have a poor coaching staff right now. We literally have 2 guys who are worse than Fayne and Larsson, but get played in every game as if they're unbenchable.

I get playing Volchenkov I guess - he's a vet and is the highest paid defenseman on the team (even if he sucks now). It's mind boggling that Harrold is untouchable though. Everyone who supported the Harrold re-signing did so because he was the perfect #7/8 defenseman who proved he could play well enough after sitting long stretches. But I think everyone supporting signing Harrold as a #7/8 assumed Larsson and Fayne would be regulars in the top 6...

That's what I though too, he's a good #7 d-man he should not be playing every night especially at the expense of Larsson and Fayne.

Yeah I've accepted that Volchenkov will probably stay in the lineup no matter what. It is funny that he was scratched a few times last year, but now he isn't.

Harrold I really don't understand. Why is he playing every night? For his offense? He stinks on the power play anyway. Volchenkov-Harrold is one of the worst pairings in the league. Volchenkov-Fayne is at least respectable to a degree.
 
Pete's Fayne-Larsson rotation literally has zero rhyme or reason to it. Fayne should play the next couple of games, so obviously Larsson will play.

Unfortunately, I think you're right.

Fayne wasn't perfect but I would pull Harrold before I'd pull Fayne...
 
Pete's a ****ing *******.

The thing about Fayne is you rarely hear his name during a game, which is a good thing because he's not ****ing up defensively.

One thing that's clear is that he's fantastic defensively. He gets turned around sometimes but does have the speed to catch up. He rarely makes errors there.

Offensively he's not as skilled as you'd like. Not as skilled as a guy like Harrold but far more skilled than Sal/Volch. Though he did struggle to keep the puck in the offensive zone a few times.

He is far better than Harrold though. And I think at this point, sitting him for Harrold, is inexcusable.

Agree 100%. Harrold was definitely the weakest defenseman today (he wasn't bad; just the others all played very well). SHOULD give DeBoer the perfect opportunity to play Fayne and Larsson at the same time next game.

Well it would have to be better than Harrold and Volch right? And I think if Volch plays even half the game he played today it would be a decent pairing. It would force Adam to elevate his game and maybe be more aggressive. And maybe some of Volch's hitting ability rubs off on him and Adam remembers he was a hitting machine internationally.

Anything that gets our 6 best D on the ice really.

Larsson and fayne should be playing every night and getting better. They're the future of the back end, you can't have them rotting in the press box and expect them to improve/ play mistake free puck. I really believe Gelinas is ready but right now I'd just be happy if those two were playing every night. I just cant wrap my head around how PD thinks this career AHLer/#7 is a reliable top-6 guy.

But I'm done complaining after a good win :laugh:
 
Harrold is what he is : A STOP-GAP.

Larsson is what he is : More Talented and should play

Fayne is what he is : Scratched

Pete is what he is : NOT Randy Quaid.
 
Hope yesterday game opened eyes of PDB cause it's a total travesty to see Fayne scratched. Not to mention it could push him out of NJ next summer which would be awful for the future of the Devils, which is not exactly bright right now. I'm tired of this awful management in NJ.

Harrold is the guy who should be in and out of the line-up, not Fayne.
