Player Discussion Marco Rossi

Boeser really hasn’t missed many games in his career. Good playoff numbers the two times he’s been.
March 2018 Back Fracture: Boeser suffered a non-displaced fracture of the transverse process in his lower back after colliding with an open bench gate. This injury ended his rookie season prematurely and required a 4-6 week recovery period.

February 2020 Rib Injury: He sustained a rib injury expected to sideline him for up to eight weeks. However, Boeser returned to play on March 10, just before the NHL season was paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

September 2022 Hand Surgery: Boeser underwent hand surgery following an injury during training camp, leading to a 3-4 week recovery. Despite this, he managed to return for the season opener.

May 2024 Blood Clotting Issue: He was ruled out for the remainder of the playoffs due to a blood clotting condition, marking a significant health concern.

November 2024 Concussion: Boeser sustained his first documented concussion from an illegal check to the head by Tanner Jeannot. He missed seven games and described the initial recovery phase as particularly challenging.

2018: Multiple foot injuries, a hand injury in February 2018, and the aforementioned back fracture in March.

2019: A groin injury in October 2018 caused him to miss several games.

2019 Preseason: Suffered a concussion from a hit by Chris Tierney but recovered in time for the season opener.

2022: Missed games due to an undisclosed injury in October 2021, contracted COVID-19 in December, and sustained an upper-body injury in April 2022.

On average he misses a little over 10 games per season. He’s been healthy the last few seasons though.

Regardless of injury history, he’s the next Mike Hoffman. I’m good. Let’s someone else give him 8 million.

Rossi is not a top 6 center on a contender. Ek is completely irrelevant to the conversation.

No our center depth would be 1C-Rossi-Ek-4C. That would be the center core if we're gonna be a contender. Obviously you have to have good wings too but the 1C would draw tough matchups from opposing teams, Ek would be the matchup center against other teams tough lines, and Rossi would be the skilled 2C that provides depth scoring.

The problem is we don't have the 1C above him or the wing depth.

We are pretenders with Rossi at 2C. Period. End of story.

Rossi would be the 4C on Florida and 3C on Edmonton.
He's not better than Draisaitl, I will concede that.

The last 6 Cup winners are either going to be no state tax, or have a top #1 or #2 drafted center in their prime, or both. Unless signing Rossi to 7 x $7M instead of 6 x $6M gets in the way of changing either of those things, it's probably much ado about nothing anyway.

Can you stay on topic here? Is it that hard? We are evaluating Rossi as a center compared to centers on contenders. We are not talking about Ek. We are not talking about no state income tax. We are comparing Rossi to the centers on contenders.

My argument is the player isn’t good enough to be a center in the top 6 of a contender. Your argument is that we should sign Rossi to 7x7 because we have nobody else, not because he’s a player that would be a 2C on a contender. That argument gives me 10 different levels of “yuck.”

It's the exact same logic, but I appreciate that you can see how stupid it is now, even if you won't admit to it
It’s not even close to the same logic and shows a blatant misunderstanding of my argument. My suggestion is to go back and re-read my argument. If you come to the same conclusion, maybe get some sleep and re-read it again in the morning. If you still come to the same conclusion, I can’t help you.

Are we limiting "contender" only to the 2 teams in the SCF this year?

Can we expand it include the other 2 teams in the final 4?

If so, I would like to hear where you think he'd play in Carolina's center pecking order.

My argument is, mainly, that I think he's a better player than you think he is. Also, that I think he's a fine 2C on a team with a PPG 1C and a good matchup 3C. Also, that I think $7M is fine for a fine 2C. Also, that I'm not crossing off him improving any part of his game. Also other things I've already said.
