Don't think so. Decent shot, below average passer. Not the guy to play with KapYeah
I think this type of thinking is part of the problem. Horvat would be the best center on this team by quite a bit, imo.I’m not going to speculate on fits and all of that- good players tend to work well with good players.Don't think so. Decent shot, below average passer. Not the guy to play with Kap
Horvat for Rossi straight up?
Yeah
Well, JEE is a different type of player, but I think just as valuable as Horvat, and more so once you factor in contracts. Horvat is a vg FO%, which would help a lot in special team situations. Good skater, ok size/strength. Decent goal scorer.I think this type of thinking is part of the problem. Main strikes against him are that he is 7 years older than Marco, makes 8.5M, and is not a great point producer, despite playing with some pretty good players in NYI and VAN.
I would prefer that we trade for a younger, perhaps riskier player, who has more tread left on the tires. Get a cheaper stopgap veteran if necessary. Horvat is not much of a #1C.... more of a 2C.
Button calling Jiricek a 3rd pairing guy and insinuating that is all he will ever be was pretty comical.![]()
Craig Button on Wild’s offseason, prospects, what to do with Marco Rossi: ‘Be careful about trading skill’
The former NHL GM and TSN's head of scouting offered his assessment on Rossi, Zeev Buium, David Jiricek, Danila Yurov Liam Ohgren and more.www.nytimes.com
Could just be how he was quoted. Felt more like that’s what he’ll be this year, but to not have the expectations that he’s ever going to be a top-pairing defenseman. I think that’s fair. I don’t expect Jiricek to be a 1RD ever (especially with Faber above him).Button calling Jiricek a 3rd pairing guy and insinuating that is all he will ever be was pretty comical.
The interview was from The Sota Pod, and what he said in context was that Jiricek isn't a top-pairing guy, and isn't going to be one. He's going to be a #5 defenseman who should forget about playing offense and just focus on playing a nasty and heavy game with his size.Could just be how he was quoted. He will be a giant over there. Feared more than Tom Wilson is here….I think no one wants him cause he's so short that he's basically useless and he's going to be playing in Japan next season
I listened to the podcast before that article was posted. Button almost sounded angry during that section.Could just be how he was quoted. Aside from the usual suspects, Morgan Geekie is a pretty intriguing name on that list.![]()
