Yup. Guerin needs to impress Kaprizov with a roster that can compete now, so that he can re-sign him. A 16th pick that may be a NHL'er 4 years from now won't get it done. Not a Wild fan but I believe they want NHLers, not picks and prospects

?? You mean the 23 yo, 60 pt. C that was second on his team in scoring?Habs management isn't going for another reclamation project who couldn't find a place on the team that drafted him.
Okay, you would. But what do you think Habs’ management would do? As someone who doesn’t follow the Habs closely, and assuming you do, what is your read on what the Habs would do?
Like hell Hage is available for that what's wrong with youYeah so ok, heading into the 2020 draft, my absolute favorite prospect was Marco Rossi. I would have loved if the Habs would have been able to select him, but due to the COVID and play-ins, they made a run in the playoffs and drafted at Guhle at 16, a solid pick. If they had lost during the play-ins, they would have selected 9. Guess who was picked at 9? Mr. Rossi himself. "Ironic" - Chancellor Palpatine.
Anyway, looks like my man Rossi is on his way out of MIN, for some reason. Habs need two things heading into this summer : a 2C and size. Rossi fits... The first part only. However, I would love to blend his quickness, agility on skate and solid shot with Demidov (who emulates Kaprizov's play). The playoffs showed that the Habs needs size and grit, Rossi would be tossed around, but maybe you add the sandpiper at the vacant spot on the wing here (maybe Justin Carbonneau in a couple of years you are able to draft him with one of the 1sts this year?).
So MIN fans, anything among the Habs assets that you think could fit what you would expect as a return for Rossi, in order to make me hope he becomes the chosen one in the following weeks, as I dreamt back in 2020? Not making a proposal here since I am not sure what you would need. I think on the Habs part, Hage becomes an available prospect for a deal like this, our 17th ovr pick this year (we target Carbonneau at 16), maybe a roster player too. Not Demidov or Reinbacher.
Also Habs fans, how do you envision all of this?
Like hell Hage is available for that what's wrong with you
Habs don't need another midget on the teamHage is probably available for the right deal, but you'd have to be naive to think he'd be available in a deal like this given Montreal's needs and who Rossi is as a player.
MN has no need or room for any Dman. They aren't looking for a pick in 25I could see a trade around one of our bigger defenseman and a pick that seems like Guérins player type. But as others have said Rossi is on the smaller side so don’t know if that fits, maybe it can though.
yeah no. 0 chance habs do this. noneHage’s name has popped up in the MN *HF* chatter… something around Hage+16 is probably the start imo.
Mtl wouldn't be pursuing him or need another small FI know i'm gonna sound like a boomer here. But at this point, I don't think MTL should be pursuing any more undersized type players. Rossi is skilled no doubt, but does MTL really need him? When he wouldn't be on their top PP anyway? I feel like a 200ft physical Sam Bennett type would make alot more sense for a young and skilled team like this.
The conversation ended at 5’9” for the Habs.Would probably have to be Hage+. If that’s a not it I get it but then the conversation ends for me. Maybe Guerin feels differently, idk. I’m not convinced Rossi will return the haul his statistical profile would say he should, but he should still get a good prospect plus or a good roster player.
Year 1 to year 2, even, if we're counting them the way the NHL itself does. I don't even think this was his prime yet.Reclamation project? Just went from 40 to 60 points from year 2 to 3. That’s called “ hitting your prime”.
Oh for sure. He could be a ppg player, has that potential.Year 1 to year 2, even, if we're counting them the way the NHL itself does. I don't even think this was his prime yet.
And for Guerin apparentlyThe conversation ended at 5’9” for the Habs.
And for basically every Stanley Cup Contender over the last 20 years. And for Guerin apparently
I think the Rossi deal is gonna have to be a two part deal tbh. Rossi for a 1st, prospect and roster player. Then the Wild trade the futures+ for a top six forward.problem is that Guerin wants a bigger C back and we don't have that
works for me if we can get Rossi for quantityI think the Rossi deal is gonna have to be a two part deal tbh. Rossi for a 1st, prospect and roster player. Then the Wild trade the futures+ for a top six forward.
You can draft for size, you can draft for results, and occasionally you can draft for both. If they're going to pick one or the other though, I'm always going to pray they choose results. And for basically every Stanley Cup Contender over the last 20 years.
The real question Wild fans should be asking is why Guerin drafted him in the first place.
The point is, if you (Guerin) feel that your centers need to be 6’ or whatever the threshold is, why would you draft a guy that almost certainly isn’t going to meet said threshold? Not only that, but he immediately followed it up by selecting Khusnutdinov in the 2nd round. Just seems like a major disconnect between who they drafted and what type of player Guerin wants. You can draft for size, you can draft for results, and occasionally you can draft for both. If they're going to pick one or the other though, I'm always going to pray they choose results.
They could have selected Lundell (he was on my personal wish list right behind Rossi), but other than that there aren't many guys I'd have realistically, without hindsight, wanted them to draft over Rossi. I think Guerin made the right selection that day. Why he made it I could only speculate on.
