Proposal: Marco Rossi for Matty Beniers

Zero chance Seattle goes for this, Rossi massively looks like a product of Kaprizov and Seattle doesn't have a Kaprizov to prop up Rossi.
Lol beniers is barely a top six player right now. I'm sure Minnesota is just itching to a pay a player 7 million a year to put up 40 points.

Okay Marco Rossi is actually an elite 1C that Minnesota should give a lifelong contract to. You've helped me see the light!
Nice strawman! Well done. Even I didn't see that coming.

Seattle still says no to the OP, but I'm beating a dead horse with that at this point.
Yeah you are, and it's perplexing, considering I never disagreed with that point.

Rossi has 1 season of being more than a 40 point guy and he’s going to get paid just as much as Beniers. Yeah, I’ll stick with the 6’2” strong defensive center.

That's as many as Beniers has.

Wow, it’s almost like I’m arguing that the offensive advantage that Rossi has over Beniers isn’t large enough to compensate for the difference in their defense. Which is what I’ve said literally 4 times now.

Beniers has a 18 goal, 41 point pace while Rossi has a a 23 goal, 50 point pace in the last 2 years. The difference there is simply not worth the defensive advantage Beniers offers, and that doesn’t mention Beniers put up 57 points in his rookie year.

Not yet! But we'll see what happens next year when Rossi isn't playing through an injury for the last month and a half of the season, on a team missing its best player and a top six center, scoring 2.5 goals per game.

Albeit, in a very impressively, hyperbolic manner though.

Hold up, look at this expert analysis.

"He doesn't score when he's not carried by Kaprizov or Boldy"

Yeah because when he's not with Kaprizov or Boldy his next most productive linemates are 30-35 point fourth liners

I'm shocked he's not keeping up a 60-70 point pace playing with Marcus Foligno.

You should always watch the player play before you draw conclusions, stat lines don't provide important context. But I suppose if you didn't watch the player, you probably would think being told to watch the player isn't fair to say to you.
Really beautiful work here accusing him of never watching Rossi play because you didn't like the stats he posted and then continuing that assumption for another half dozen or so posts to really drive the thread into the ground.

Well except we know it's not just an assumption because it was never refuted, it was only doubled down on.

Guerin has already said that he doesn't believe in cap inflation.
Yeah he did lol. I don’t think he believes it, I just don’t think he’s willing to come out and say “yeah we’re gonna pay these guys a shit Tom because the cap is going up”.

The player you see right now is not indicative of the player Rossi has been this year or the player he can be moving forward. He’s obviously dealing with something. He’ll, he’s only 23, he can be an even better player than he is right now. With that being said, there’s a lot of truth to the stat inflation argument, but not even because of Kaprizov (that is a true “I don’t want games take”). The guy was thrust into 1st line, 1st powerplay, 18.5 mins oer game for almost the entire season, and he almost exclusively played with one of Kaprizov or Boldy at all times. He was buoyed by his situation to be certain. To me I see Yanni Gourde when I watch him. He’s a good player. He’s very smart and alert out there. He’s a good not great skater, especially for his size, and the big issue is that the puck game is just not as good as we had hoped when we drafted him. Again, I like the player, I just don’t want to pay him based off of production he achieved in a role he won’t retain. And if he does retain it, we’re not going anywhere.

There is for sure. However in all seriousness I am not sure that's the main argument. Something doesn't sit well with MN and Rossi to the point I am really really curious to find out what it is during the offseason.

They don't want to give him the term he wants according to our beat writer. We offered a medium term contract and it was rejected

That's the rumor that is spread around yes, but that's just one part of a larger story. Like I said where Rossi will end up and what details will (in time) come to light is what makes it interesting.

Didn’t you just say yesterday that it was ludicrous to believe that these rumors of a discord between Rossi & the FO have some merit?

oh look who it is :) Read again what I wrote please. It's exactly the point I made yesterday to you. I want to know what happened/is happening because these current rumors are spread for a reason and I don't give two sh*ts about rumors without knowing the full story. You go on ahead trusting your rumors my friend.

Brave thing to say on a board called Trade Rumors and Free Agency.

“mean seriously…that’s just a ludicrous statement. You don’t like the player, fine. But to agree with something nobody knows anything about is just on another level even for hfboards.”

That’s your response to me suggesting that the rumors that Rossi & the FO don’t see eye to eye may have legs. Nothing you are saying makes any sense. Obviously none of us know what’s going on. Could be just a dispute about $ and/or term. Could be something else.
