Yeah, Julien has gotten on his case when he's crossed the line, and Marchand's reined it in. The problem is, with some people, when you get a rep, it sticks, no matter what.

The yapping and agitating is part of the game, and Marchand is good at it; God knows plenty of players do it. If it gets other players off their game, more power to him (they should react as Hartnell often has - laugh).

As you said, he does have a tendency to get knocked down due to his size, and IMHO also because of his hell-for-leather skating style. He's on his edges more often than not, which makes him tough to catch but easy to knock flying if you do catch him.

This coincides w/ his lack of production, imo. Defenders have gotten better at using his lack of size and reach against him, get the body on Marchand, or close him off, 9 times out of 10 he's out of the play. The only way he can overcome that is to keep his feet moving.

No, I don't judge him more harshly. I judge him the same as other "pests". That he has more talent than many of them only makes his actions worse, IMO. I can understand a guy like Avery- he had to do something else to earn a spot in the NHL because he wasn't that great a player. What's Marchand's excuse?

Just play the freaking game and leave the garbage out of it no matter what team you play for is my belief.

And you are welcome to that belief, but I don't share it. I like to have an agitator or two on the team, and I would rather have a talented one than not. I also don't believe it's possible for certain players, Marchand among them to be at their best unless they are emotionally invested (Looch too).

If I have to choose between neutered Marchand (and Lucic) being mediocre and nasty/PIA 63 (and 17) being highly effective, I choose the latter. Not everybody can (or needs to) be a Lady Byng candidate.

Agreed. So they don't believe in Koko for this chance ?

Kelly is a center and allows Fraser to play natural position. Kelly ideally is a bottom 6 but for a week in the regular season he can replace Krejci. At worst they can break even and the defense led by Kelly on that line has been good to outstanding considering Lucic ain't exactly Bob Gainey and the big knock on Griffith has been his own zone. Fantasy league points they aren't getting it done but in real world so far so good. They been holding own and Bergeron and Soderberg lines have won last three games

I think you're spot on in that emotional investment is the key, and the way Marchand gets invested is by being a PITA. Sure, he's talented, but that talent only seems to click into high gear is when his agitation button is in the ON position.

I know I know Cloode and the safe way.

Kids that have been sitting in AHL for like 2 or 3 years deserve chances too.

Story we hear is kids like Pasta, Koko, Spooner are too good for bottom 6 but now that a top 6 opens where are they ?

Yes Griff but hasn't he played with Koko before ?

It will be over shortly but would have like to seen offensive ( 2 kids that would have had Looch hopping )

If any of the kids was that good Simon Gagne wouldn't have a job right now.

Anyone notice all 4 of our Montreal games are on the 2nd game of a back-to-back, whereas only 1 of those games is on the 2nd game of a back-to-back for the Habs?

Yes, so i fully expect the Bruins to come out, get outhit, out worked and lose the game 5-2 or 5-3.

I disagree.

I think Florek and Cunningham have definitely proven themselves to be viable options to at least be equal to Gagne...and probably a better fit to be playing with Paille and Campbell

Yes, it is a joke of a schedule this year. Just like the 7 games in 11 days or however we started the season. I am afraid to look ahead on the schedule for that dreaded 10 day random break in January/February, just because (exaggeration, it might only be 5).

I welcome the tough situation for the bruins, trains them to fight harder against a team they'll have to deal with one way or another

They will always play better with their backs against the wall, proven it time and time again

Because in the playoffs, they'll both have the same rest if they play each other

I was listening the Wings commentators and they mentioned this awhile back when the B's were playing them. They were having quite the chuckle over it.
In protest, the B's should put the Providence Bruins on the ice the night before.
