There is maybe one rental a year worth that kind of package and Marchand ain’t it.

Its ok.

1. he likely won't get traded.
2. If he does, it will take that package. He's winner. Best in the playoffs and a future hall of famer.

I don't think Boston is getting a first on top of Savoie. Maybe Savoie straight up or Savoie and money going back, but he's our best prospect by a country mile and really breaking out at the AHL level right now. His point totals aren't gaudy but the Condors stink and the coach likes ultra defensive hockey.

People must be stupid to think the Oilers let Matthew Savoie go. The guy is trending to be a stud for his hometown team. Let him go for an ancient relic who " might" get us the cup and be obsolete by next year ?

Even if Savoie turns out to be a mediocre NHL forward -and he is project to be much, much better- the Oilers have so few guys in the pipeline that might make the show I can't see them being dealt for a rental under any circumstances.

The Oilers need a proven D and a G before they even consider giving up a 1st and top prospect for a 36-year-old winger. Marchand wouldn’t get the same offensive opportunities here and is extremely unlikely to re-sign. It makes no sense.
