Even after the Rantanen trade, I still feel Marchy would be a massive all-in move. Still remove. Need to retain less.

A 1st round pick in the 20s and a b level prospect? Sure.

Multiple 1sts and a good prospect is an expensive return, zero chance any team does that. (Ok, maybe Tampa)

I seen more washed up then him get alot .He will score 20 + on a bad Bruins team.Put him on a stronger team & he has a good run left in him don't kid yourself.Its about winning the Cup remember 😉

So given that and w/Yankees trading Ar. Chapman to Cubs for Gleyber Torres and getting Chap back quickly post season,

Zib was beyond disgusting like 6 wks but has played much better like usual self since Christmas

deal is not sexy as other returns, but

gives Bs
established pivot at a time C depth is horrid and league wide supply scarce
helps structural cap reorganization in moving zad
BOS easy peasy welcomes back March as a ufa

Rs
start to move on from vets
will have to see what zad brings as he is 5per long term
but do effectively rent March this season w/likely jtm add

this obv assumes everyone w/clause waives
Zib unclear but thought is he is open to an east coast team

i don't know where he'll end up if he's traded but if he doesn't retire a bruin i think he'll sign with the avs.
 
The only way I see Marchand going anywhere is if we fall out of the race. Zero chance we move him while sitting 3rd in our division. They also only move him if they ask him if he wants to chase another cup this year. They can always re-sign him in the off season. He seems like a lifer though

Maybe he wants a surer way to get a chance at the cup, wouldn't be the first long-timer to ask something like that.

And I say 'surer', cause the Bruins are 4th in the division, with the most games played out of the contending teams, Ottawa and Montreal have 2 games in hand and just 2pts behind, while Tampa, who's only 1pts ahead, have 3 games in hand. Detroit have some kind of resurgence lately, too.

Division is a clusterf***, any team can come on top, even Toronto and Florida ain't that far ahead, but trailing teams can get ahead of Boston pretty easily.
