Not saying any team couldn't have a use for Rantanen but was he really a need for Dallas? Scoring wasn't even close to being one of their problems. They didn't overly improve from before the trade deadline getting him so I am not understanding them being crowned one of the teams to beat now.

I thought they were going to address their RHD running lyubushkin/ceci/dumba does not seem like a good idea to me

That's the thing. They're still the same team but with slightly better scoring yet the hockey world is acting like they're leaps and bounds better. They weren't a bad team before and they're not a bad team now. So I am confused what the gushing is about. Nothing has changed except Rantanen is possibly good for a few more goals on average. He probably won't make a difference to where they'll end up at the end of the season/playoffs whether he is there or not.

My impression:
Edmonton, Dallas, Colorado could be dangerous with goaltending.
Toronto is a non-contender.

Dallas, Colorado, Edmonton all good teams but if we play like we have most of the season and get regular season Helly i absolutely love our chances to have a deep run in the playoffs. Toronto is going absolutely no where but we will all hear on Sportsnet and TSN how great they are.

Dallas-Edmonton and Toronto-Colorado playing tonight had 20 goals scored in those two games.

The Jets have allowed 16 goals in their last 10 games……

Save percentages of the starting goalies in those games last night:
.844 Stolarz (Leafs)
.840 Skinner (Oilers)
.815 Oettinger (Stars)
.810 Blackwood (Avs)

Jets goalies have had only 2 games all year with a save percentage below .850, both by Hellebuyck:
.839 in a 5-0 loss to the Panthers, Nov 16th
.832 in a 4-3 OT loss to the Ducks, Jan 2nd

…so the Stars and Avs goalie save percentages last night would’ve each been the worst game of the entire season for the Jets

The Gibson injury really derailed their plans I think. Though who knows, maybe they think Skinner can be Cup Finals games 4 to 7 good again this year.
Its funny how people say that the Jets are only asking good as Helle, but it turns out every team is only as good as their goalie plays at the end of the day

Not sure why so many people are bummed the leafs blew that. COL advancing ahead of minnesota means theres a higher likelihood COL will see dallas round 1.

Also dallas lost. Good night to be a jets fan, all things considered.
