Let's all take a moment to remember almost a year ago when Marc Staal got hit in the ****ing eye with a puck and his future remained unknown.

Fast forward to pre season where Marc Staal is a god damned beast and looks like he could be back + with some really nice offense.

Fast forward a few games and wow, Marc Staal (and just about the entire team) looks pretty awful, then bang. Concussed.

Fast forward to his return from the concussion. Marc Staal has been an absolute animal on both sides of the ice since coming back.

I hope he keeps this up because with all the **** Marc Staal has gone through he deserves a lot of respect for playing like he has.

Marc Staal has been absolutely brilliant since he returned from his concussion. I can't say that enough.

Staal-Stralman have been dominating other teams. They played a flawless game tonight. Both of them.

Resign them both, please.

I've said it for awhile now, he is a key cog to this defense. When he is on he can line up against the best. He should be a ranger for a long time.

He really should get some Masterton consideration. Very cool and unique award that I'd love to see a Ranger win.

He's playing the best hockey of his career. Gives you an idea how good McDonagh really is.

I want Marc to retire a Ranger. There is more than enough trade talk around here, but no effing way should this guy be considered.
Said it before, saying it again.

He has been excellent. I might argue that he was actually playing better last season before the injury but that's nit picking.

Really just happy to see him rise back and battle through all he has gone through. It's impressive as hell.

Plenty of people wrote him off after his concussion in 2011 and after his eye injury last year, but he has battled back and appears to be in top form yet again. I love to see that sort of resiliency and character from a player.

Where are all the people talking about how "his vision will never be 100%" now? Even if it isn't, it doesn't matter.

He definitely is one of the best stories on this team this year.

Guy's been an absolute beast lately.

The office needs to work out his future as soon as possible. Can't let his contract turn into a sideshow next year like Cally's is right now.

Said it before and I'll say it again, this team would be insane to lose any of Staal, McD or Girardi at this juncture. They practically won the lottery getting all three guys at once.

C'mon on now he's no Matt Cooke.

BTW, we have 2 shutdown D pairs now and a 3rd that would probably be a 2nd half the teams in the league (ok that may be an exaggeration).

BTW, I have crow to eat. I remember when I read that Staal was close to coming back in the injury thread and said "am I the only one not excited?" He was really bad. I don't know why he started playing so much better AFTER a concussion.

Same here Snownblind. I was indifferent with him his first few weeks in the season, but him and Stralman have carried the defense in this stretch run. I hope both get retained somehow.

I think the thread should be for those who wrote him off to start eating crow.

I'll take mine raw with a side of weak-sauce!:D
I was admittedly critical , and genuinely worried he was going to be in serious decline with the eye and the latest concussion. He has proven himself to be a freakin warrior and is playing with fire in his belly and a gleam in his one good eye:sarcasm:!
The guy is a monster, and I'm ecstatic he looks better than I remember him ever being. That is huge for this team , and of course for Carolina very soon. :naughty:

It's definitely because of the tinted visor. Badass.

He's been a beast. Imagine we had this Staal in the playoffs last year?

I actually agree 100%. After he came back from his first concussion I thought he was playing like the two-way defenseman the Rangers visioned him to become. Idk if people would agree with me here but I think hes really similar to John Carlson when he is playing at his absolute best.

Heck, I think Staal is definitely better than Carlson when at his best. Certainly better defensively but not as good offensively.
