Would there ever be a time, to hire a clown like MB? Being honest, no there would never be a time....his 15 minutes of fame, hurt the organization for 10 years counting.....all the while having a hall of fame goalie.MB was also GM at a time when so many old school GMs went from being solid managers (pre-2015: Lombardi, MB, Chia-pet etc) to overnight suckage as the NHL game shifted to speed & skill just as McDavid entered the league & moreover driven by NHL owners scrambling to not lose their shirts in court over concussion lawsuits.
MB simply got caught in that transformation of the league and wasn’t the right person at the right time
So 1-yr bonus deals for multiple seasons was ok for HOF top-3 Dman of all time (Lidstrom) but not good enough for a perennial playoff underachiever?Would there ever be a time, to hire a clown like MB? Terrible..............the guy was human trash at times, with his behavior......ask Mr Markov.
Blame Puff Puff Lebrun...................it took Pierre 3 years, to crawl out of Marc's a$$....Feel good thread, the guy been gone for 3 years let it go.
We cant talk about a guy we didn't pick in the draft beceause ''he's not part of the habs'' but let's bash on someone who isn't here since november 2021.
While I agree he's made some decent moves to start his tenure, the real work is just beginning, it's one thing to move vets and accumulate picks but it's another to build a contending team. I am not being critical but rather taking a wait-and-see approach.Hughes puts everyone to shame. Solid, solid GM.
We can only judge him on what he's done so far. And he's done everything you hope a GM will do. He traded vets for picks/prospects. He drafted high. He traded for young talent... He is faced with a difficult task especially when you look at the bad contracts MB left him so yeah, I like how is doing things and not making any panic moves and sticking to a plan.We can only judge him on what he's done so far. Now, does that continue? We'll have to see. But he at least is executing on a plan and doing it very well so far. That doesn't mean it's mistake free. Years from now we may look back and say we made mistakes at the draft table (you never always pick the right guy) and there will be other moves we'll question. But at a minimum he's executed on what he set out to do so far. We are eons ahead of where we were three years ago.
The dog would have done a better job.Auto-GM in NHL13 would’ve done a better job.
Forgot Guhle. That's a good point. So, he was going to trade the pick used for Caufield?
Also, we may have a Price (Fowler) and a Subban (Reinbacher) - and we certainly have a Demidov and a Hage!
How is Kuch an accessory piece? He was drafted by TB and has stayed with them throughout his career.. you need those players.Famed accessory pieces Patrick Kane and Nikita Kucherov
The Dach trade was designed to fix it. Great move for a big center that unfortunately has been derailed. I’d view that as a hole now.He is faced with a difficult task especially when you look at the bad contracts MB left him so yeah, I like how is doing things and not making any panic moves and sticking to a plan.
I want to see a move that fixes the center ice problem because the help won't come from 18-21-year-old players, the position is similar to defense in that it takes years for most young players to become competent at the NHL level. I would like to see a trade if possible.
I don't want any more Newhook and Dach reclamation projects either, those moves aren't worthy of a passing grade but it was a gamble with little consequence for a rebuilding team. If there are moves to bolster the roster it should be quality vets coming here to help the young core. Those should be easier to accomplish once we free up some money on July 1.
Having Price in Net at the peak of his career, and he couldn't spare a 1st rounder (with equally weak scouts)It's even more funny when you look at how bad our first round picks were. In ten years, he hit with Caufield. Thats it. (Maybe Mailloux. We shall see)
we have a disgusting fan base. He really didn’t leave us in a bad positionBut Bergevin feels he left Jeff Gorton and Kent Hughes decent pieces to rebuild with.
“I never traded a first-round pick when I was there,” Bergevin said. “Not that I wouldn’t, but I didn’t. And you can look at the draft picks I left them. And I’m proud of that. I didn’t put that franchise in a bad spot. People might argue that, but I don’t know where you would argue that.”
MB is a clown
Can't believe that's not being mentioned more.So he gave guys massive and undeserved contracts on his way out, as was rumored. Now confirmed. Thus f***ing the team for years to come.
Most causals think our current management is good.So unacceptable , the fanbase doesn't even talk about it , Most casual fans think Bergevin was a good gm lol
I'm just here for the memes this new interview is going to generate.
Clearly you do, all the time, even now. Get over it and yourself.Feel good thread, the guy been gone for 3 years let it go.

Not if you get one on an expiring contract. Eller would have been an upgrade till the TDL, not a star but a solid center hence the reason the Caps got him back. The Dach trade was designed to fix it. Great move for a big center that unfortunately has been derailed. I’d view that as a hole now.
Reclamation project is fine. That’s how you get value. If you want a vet you’ll pay through the nose.
It's probably thanks to his advice that the Kings agreed to flip their 21st pick, which allowed Hughes to nab Hage.Underrated gm? hahaha Who do you think is consulting the kings franchise on all the garbage moves they've been making these past 2 years. Foxhole buddies are up there now
