Anybody willing to do a bullet point recap, for us poor civil servants who can't afford yet another sports related subscription, less their long suffering wife kill them in their sleep ?
Here are some points (totally made up ;p)
  • At the end of the day, trading is hard
  • Centres are not available
  • My biceps did not save me
  • Gally is my bro forever
  • My BFF Michou was far way from me so I was glad to be forced to step down
  • Expect the unexpected

Bergevin says Habs owner Geoff Molson approached him with a contract extension right after the team reached the ’21 Cup Final. His contract was expiring a year later.

“I decided that for me, it was best to move forward,” Bergevin said. “Time had come. It was good for both of us to move in a different direction. Geoff was very good, very fair. But I told him, ‘Geoff, I’m going to finish my last year that’s left and then I’m going to move on.’ He was good with that. He understood.”

Carolina GM Don Waddell did reach out to see if a trade could be worked out instead. The rumor at the time was that Bergevin tried to get a young Seth Jarvis back.

“That’s true,” he confirmed.

But Bergevin feels he left Jeff Gorton and Kent Hughes decent pieces to rebuild with.

“I never traded a first-round pick when I was there,” Bergevin said. “Not that I wouldn’t, but I didn’t. And you can look at the draft picks I left them. And I’m proud of that. I didn’t put that franchise in a bad spot. People might argue that, but I don’t know where you would argue that.”

MB is a clown

I hope he finally got the Playstation though. No GM can properly GM without it.

f*** YOU, Bergevin!

We are almost out from underneath his trash pile. Armia, Dvorak, Savard, and Evans (but hopefully he resigns) are all done this year. That's a significant chunk of crap. One more year of Price's cap nonsense left as well.

Only Gally and Anderson left after that, but they've both been much better this year. Gally has been amazing quite frankly, def not worth 6.5 but I'll take what's he's giving. Anderson less so but with the cap rising maybe 5.5 won't seem so bad, hopefully.

I would have took the extension. Around 10 million in money too much to turn down. Even if I knew I had another job

Good GM got us to Finals, 95% GMs can't. Was runner up to GM of year. Should have won. On the 4 thoroughbreds and good netminding. Many teams are copying it today. Plus never traded no future picks to do it. Most cup teams did.

Good trades Pizza Man and Romanov arguably best trade in franchise history. Suzuki, Tatar good trade. Weber and Petry a steal. Ryder, Vanek, Weaver, Weise major reason we upset Bruins. A little payback from 2011.

This team is mostly his, Suzuki, Caufield, Guhle, Wifi. A 10 year job well done.

He did leave off a pretty great d prospect pool along with Nick and Cole. And it's true that he didn't dump draft picks.

But holy shit the contracts were so bad. Price. Weber, Edmunson, Hoffman, Armia, Anderson, Gallagher, Drouin, Dvorak, Byron, Petry, Chiarot. I feel like I am even forgetting some players lol.

Christ, so much money in non-impact players (Price and Weber too beat up to amount to anything).

Yes he did. He acknowledged that the Aho move was bad and that the Gallagher contract sucks. If you're expecting him to go 'I WAS TOTAL TRASH, WOW' that was never going to happen.

He was a terrible GM who had zero balls or vision but expecting him to talk like an HF poster is silly.
sure ok. your take on it
he made more mistakes then good.
that is silly

He didn't give Weber that contract, but the Subban one wasn't good, so just swap them.

Pretty sure that Weber contract came from a Philly offer sheet
