This. As mild as this is as a news story, it seems even milder to come out during this year’s camps and the entire focus is ‘Leafs did this under old coach and Leafs don’t now under new coach’ - but no mention whatsoever if that coach who is now helming a new team brought that approach with him there?

As fluff of a story as it is, It feels like incomplete fluff to not have any follow up on whether this is still a Keefe thing in NJ. If we’re gonna get fluff; at least make it the full serving.

Ya I don't care either way about this either but I haven't heard any on their Instagram stories from camp and if it is on its at a pretty low volume...

Zero chance Keefe wanted music at his practices. No coach would. Just shows how limited the control was he had on the group. Berube appears to have the hammer that Keene was never given. Leafs need a good start or the drama will be soap opera level.

We'll see how long it lasts. Matthews, Nylander, and Marner have always been more concerned with being celebrities than winning hockey, and they've been running the show in Toronto for 7 years now. They might buy into Berube at the start, but when they're so used to being bigger than the team, I can't imagine swallowing their pride for a whole season will be easy.

A DJ at practice is a damn clown show. Practice how you play.

Players will buy in to Berube is they are getting their cherry ice-time, and winning. If either of those go south so will that room. Will be entertaining for sure.

I haven’t seen this mentioned here previously : two days ago it was reported that Craig Berube made some changes regarding music at Leafs practices.

Now to build on that this morning on french sports radio, insider Renaud Lavoie said that not only did the Leafs used to listen to music during practices, they had a DJ to set the vibe.

He said it was not something that other teams did around the league. The Leafs were doing this regularly and also during the playoffs.

He also talked about the 2021 playoffs when the Toronto - Montréal series was 3-1, that Alex Galchenyuk was dancing on the ice almost giving a show at practice because the music was good.

Audio clip can be found on this youtube link at 1:46:00.

I'm not reading the thread but NFL teams use music, there are studies on it improving performance, and it is closer to a game situation than no noise.

The DJ was hired because they are a billion dollar company and don't need their coaches setting things up.

Either way, I still think it is dumb, but people making a big deal of it are even more dumb.

Very true, practice how you play, for example, the Sens finish the practice by having a scrimmage where both teams lose.

Come on, Scotiabank isn’t THAT quiet.

They're there to practice, not to party.

This mentality is why North American productivity has gone in the absolute tank.

I wish my boss brought a DJ to work. It'd be awesome.

But nooo, I recommend some heavy metal and it's "too inappropriate."
Try something more mellow to set a vibe

Some MF DOOM

For fake,
If he was Anita Bakers man,
He take her for her masters, hit it once
And shake her hand,
On some ol’ Thank You Ma’am and ghost her
She can mind the toaster if she sign the poster

over some smooth jazz for the ladies

The KC chiefs play music at practice, hassn’t stopped them from going back to back.

This shouldn’t be a story.

What about hockey practice can’t be done while listening to music?

If anything, almost everyone seems to prefer working out or playing sports to music if possible. It gets you in a groove and mentally aligned with the tempo. There’s a reason they use it in high-intensity workout classes.

Very strange thing to suggest that people need to work out in a silent empty building or their productivity will go down.
