Matthews has had 3 coaches in 10 years. That’s hardly a lot. McDavid has had 5 and has actually made thinly veiled comments regarding their coaching and no one is out here calling him a coach killer.

Edit: realizing now you never said killer, so objection half withdrawn. I’ve just seen several comments about him allegedly being a coach killer and jumped the gun

This was today, Brian Laughton talking about the data Chayka gave to Dave Tippett in Arizona as "very low value" data. Giving Chayka an out then saying "I didn't find it particularly helpful." so take it how you will. Laughton was an agent for a while, worked for an agency, worked as an exec and GM and now owns a tech/analytics company.

This is great snippet. More proof that John Chayka is fraudulent snake oilsman. He is numbers guy, but no evidence he gets good insights from data or can apply statistical rigour and analysis to data. No math, stats, data science degree.

He was young guy and marketed himself as cutting edge, data driven. and then he swindled all these old-school execs with that slick image of being data-driven and evidence-based.

A conman of highest order. I wonder what employee reviews are at his Wendy restaurants and if he show poor people skills there too and manipulative ability.

I suppose he will have to work with Darryl Metcalf then. That is if Pittsburgh doesn’t get him.

Amazing stuff :laugh: Poverty franchises like Florida are shaking in their boots after this hiring.

Its almost like McDavid plays outstanding in the playoffs, putting the team on his back, and makes his coach look way better than he actually is.

Meanwhile Matthews does the complete opposite of that.

McDavid also never looks checked out the way Matthews does.

McDavid actually has a leg to stand on when complaining about the coach. Matthews needs to look in the mirror and fix himself first

Cool, he’s still had 5 coaches despite all that awesomeness. Draisaitl has had 7. Barkov has had 8.

Matthews has his issues, and does need to be a hell of a lot better than what we’ve seen particularly the last 2 seasons under Berube, but all I’m saying is calling him a coach killer is nonsense.

Also your opinions on Matthews are pretty much always way over the top.
