I'm not sure what the answer is here outside of Denvers coach...

Laviolette and Bruce B are very "safe" choices and would be "fine" but alot of the same as berube I think.

Malholtra probably would ahve been a good/more forward choice, but safer then a woodcroft/knobloch type of choice.

I agree with Ferraro’s comments on its hard to endorse the best candidate when we don’t really know what the Leafs are looking for.
A team like Edmonton is simple. Win the Cup next year. Is that us? Is it win it all next year? Is it a coach that Matthews likes only? Is it find a coach who knows how to handle young guys like McKenna/Cowan/Knies/Hildeby/Danford/whatever we get in trade? Because while we are retooling around Matthews we are also sort of rebuilding? What is it?

We/I would really like to know Mathews opinion on things, and what Chayka's strategy is for filling out the roster.

If they told Mattews, we're bringing in some younger player along with a couple free agents and this year will be a transition which may not result in the playoffs, would he say I'm out?

If he will only stay if they empty the cupboard to try and win the Cup (ain't happening) then he's gone when it doesn't work.

If they said we're selling everything to get the best 2nd. round picks we can :biglaugh:he's gone.

I hope they bring in a coach who works well with today's younger players, and can accept they make mistakes and know those mistake won't define their careers. Matthews doesn't have to like it, but as a veteran/captain he should support all his teammates and the coach.

Add Dallas Eakins to the list of candidates for Toronto’s Head Coach position. Per multiple sources, Eakins interviewed with the Leafs earlier this week for the role.

Jay Woodcroft and D.J. Smith appear to be the frontrunners for the full-time Head Coach gig in Los Angeles.

I think the team should want to know the same opinions from Auston.

Maybe they could something like getting together in person, and like talk to each other.

Some sort of meeting.

Wonder if they have thought about doing something radical like that.

Maybe, considering Auston is recovering from knee surgery, the team management could take their private jet down.

Nah

That sounds unrealistic

2026 ... hmmm

Is it possible this new thing called the wireless could do a meet and greet without burning a year's worth of heating fuel for a small hamlet?

Shhh, don't tell anyone you can actually do live pictures at the same time!!!! Don't want them to feel left out.

Bit of a hot take according to what I've seen on Reddit but I'd still take Cassidy if he was available. Known to be one of the smartest XO's/adjustment/systems coaches in the league. If Vegas let him talk to teams after the finals, I'd definitely try to at least interview him.

It has to be agonizing watching the team you coached for the majority of the season make it to the cup finals and knowing the only reason you're at home and not behind the bench is because the players didn't like playing for you.

If I were him, I'd take a look in the mirror and make personality adjustments because he has the potential to be remembered as an all time great coach if he wins another cup, especially in Toronto.

I wouldn't be surprised if Dale Hunter has been approached for an interview. He coached the Washington Capitals, Canadian National Junior team on several occasions, also the very successful London Knights, where he coached the teams to over 1,000 wins, capturing multple OHL champions, and Memorial cup titles. He has also developed many NHL players over the years. But he's been very comfortable with the London Knights, where he has been the head coach for 24 seasons, and probably declined the invitation for an interview.

Don’t like the hire. But from pure entertainment standpoint, Roy as the coach would be awesome.

Bryan Hayes from overdrive said imagine Roy walking into the Bell centre leading Matthews, McKenna, Tavares and Nylander with the Leafs speaking in French. Imagine that in a playoff series
