I can't believe that the Leafs will end up getting absolutely nothing for Grabo Kulie and MacArthur.

This was written before the season started. AWESOME article and this guy is dead bang-on with everything except the goaltending! Worth a read!

:yo::yo::yo:

Just finished watching the NHL awards. If I am not mistaken all the other 29 NHL teams were represented one way or another in the voting except the Leafs. Just goes on to show who effin stupid this leafs management is.

Leafs management shoving bozo down our throat just isnt fun.

P.S. Incase people are wondering, am not the author of the link above

And there was a time when we were offered 1st round picks for all of em, Can you imagine what we could have done with 3 first rounders?

Heck even second rounders. Three assets walk, what do the leafs have to show for it?

Not the worst asset management. That belongs to the devils.

Devils lost Parise,Kovalchuk,Clarkson(who was productive for them) and were still better than us this year.
The 2nd worst team in the league who won the draft lottery boasts Barkov,Bjugstad,Pirri,Shore,Trochek down the middle while we counter with Bozak,Kadri,Holland.
What's the matter with this organization?

Negative

Actually, since we expended a compliance buyout, which could have been used on Liles, and $14 million to make Grabovski go away (granted, that's not a hockey asset, but it's still appalling).

I don't think Clarkson was as productive for them as his stats suggest - Devils fans kept saying he was dragging down their talented forwards. That may have been a case of addition by subtraction. Maybe Parise + Kovalchuk = -Clarkson

I'm going to laugh and cry so hard when Clarkson is finally gone and the Leafs instantly jump 10 points in the standings.

For all the people *****ing that Kulemin is getting driven out of town by the coach.. After the last two seasons he had, do you think he deserved more ice time? He is replaceable, and is not a second line winger

Absofreakinglutely. His performance the past two seasons was decent considering he was used in a strictly defensive role. Almost no offensive zone starts, playing against strong competition mostly. I don't want to re-sign him for more than $3M, but I'd be over the moon to have him on the 2nd line instead of Clarkson for that sum.

The fact that his role is the show stopper in the negotiations means Nonis still sees Clarkson as our 2nd line RW. Disgraceful. :shakehead

Short of a few decent runs, its been a reality for almost 40 years.

i guess so. i was 7-8 during the Gilmour playoff seasons, and got to live in Ottawa during the Sundin playoff winning streak. like i've got some good memories of some pretty good teams.

but i think whatever Nonis does to try to salvage the situation he's committed to with this group will set us back at least another half decade, a long term Bolland deal to add to the Clarkson one and other horrors.

And Kuli is another player that is run out of town by the toaster of a coach. Brilliant!

:shakehead

Bolland is 28 years old and not needed, however, I am fine with giving him 2 years at 4 mil with no NTC, Gauthier will be ready by then.

Fine with bringing McClement back but no need of Raymond. Wondering if Lupul is being shopped (please God)

I would not mind bringing Raymond back, but only if Lupul is traded (unless we get a top6 winger back). Gonna need some decent talent to play on our 2nd line, and Raymond can put up 20g 40-50pts a season. If you can sign him for a reasonable price (and term), he could provide some secondary scoring.

People need to understand, that if your in a playoff position at the deadline, you are not trading pieces on your current team, especially with the Leafs and the lack of postseasons. Its not just on nonis, its management as well. They would take making the playoffs over a 2nd or 3rd rounder at the deadline.

Unfortunately our Leafs do their best epic 18-wheeler collapsing post trade deadline and that hurts the GM via asset management as he is standing pat to finish 5th last (2012) and 8th (2014) and then UFA assets walk for free, while believing he is protecting the Leafs playoff position.

The opposite position being that a GM should have a better handle on his evaluation skills of own his team and their expected reasonable level of achievement. Leafs management doesn't use advanced stats metrics nor analytics so its like flying blind, crossing your fingers and standing pat and hoping everything works out.

In Bolland's case however he was injured and of no use to the Leafs at present and Nonis while doing his due diligence prior to the trade deadline would already know Bolland's asking demands at which point attempting to recapture the acquisition cost by dealing would have been the prudent thing to do. IF Bolland was asking $5 X 8 at the trade deadline what would have changed post trade deadline to get him to vastly alter his position?

i mean the other side of the "i can't believe we won't get a thing in return for Kulemin, Grabo, Mac" thing is that these guys are all better than the guys that have (or in Kulemin's case, will) replace them.

I like that the Leafs are remaining quiet. Steady as she goes, Nonis et al. Build from the draft. Let's avoid further expensive FA signings!
