Context helps. He's talking about inheriting the transfer payments. He named those players because they still owe money for them. Actual quote from the transcipt: Sir Jim Ratcliffe: Full transcript of Dan Roan's interview with Man Utd co-owner

That's the process it takes. It's not a light switch. I'll give you an example, if you look at the players we are buying this summer, that we didn't buy, we are buying Antony, we are buying Casemiro, we are buying Andre Onana, we are buying Rasmus Hojlund, we are buying Jadon Sancho.

These are all things from the past but whether we like it or not we have inherited those things and we have to sort it out.

Then a lot later near the end of the interview he gets asked:

You mentioned inheriting players like Antony etc. Are you saying they are not good enough?

No I'm just saying we've..[interrupted]

Or overpaid? What are you getting at there?

Some are not good enough, some are probably overpaid.

Leading questions considering he meant inheriting transfer payments. So not as shocking as you make out.

One thing from the past I didn't like is he apparently didn't know who Katie Zelem was when he met her. She was captain of the Women's team.

Also the new stadium looks shit.

I'd say refused to. Current sporting leadership seems to be much more frugal and their targets have clear attributes they're targeting.

All staff costs. I think it came up in the Neville interview, but someone at the club had decided it would be a good idea to employ a body language expert that cost £175K per year so it's not wonder Ratcliffe seemed astonished at the expenses. I mean in 7 years of no success, the non-football stafff grew by 200 for soem reason.

Aah, three towers represent the trident in the club crest. So maybe each tower could be named after the Trinity? Best Tower, Law Tower and Charlton Tower? Just noticed the peaks are also red.

Yah of course they do. However the images they’ve released look like the Qatar / Saudi WC mock ups. Some of the Qatar stadiums took inspiration from local stuff.

Either way, I dunno where they got the pictures but none of that looks like Manchester when I’ve been. Grey, rainy, ugly.

Ratcliffe also talks about taking a hatchet to everything because that’s what he does in business. Rich people like him call it efficiency or getting rid of redundancy.

In reality he’s cheap. And likely inept at running a football club. Along with cruel to poor people.

He's literally invested all he can according to stock market rules. Plus he's not really running it, Berrada & co are the ones running it.
 
How much he owns isn’t about being cheap or not.

If you think he’s not calling the shots on what to do, I dunno what to tell you. He might not pick the players but he’s giving the directive

Yes, giving the directive to Berrada, Wilcox etc. to improve the team. I mean there's literally no evidence to suggest from Nice or Lausanne to suggest he'd do more.

Having been a person who has had the "privilege" of standing outside for prolonged periods, in the rain, to get into a stadium, I'd be very happy with this. It might not look great, but it will certainly feel great to the folks outside the stadium waiting to get inside.

Gotta give credit to @The Abusement Park , I remember you telling me that the Glazers were using the club to take funds and yeah mate, you were 100% correct. How they've run the club and absolutely destroyed a legendary stadium is shambolic. That is truly some of the worst ownership I think I have ever seen, even over the Arizona Coyotes.
