Managerial Thread 24 25 Season Lolventus

@Evilo @Savi talk to me about Phillippe Clement so I can look really cultured and knowledgeable in front of people.

Ouch, I don't have much positive to say. He was not the man for the job at Monaco. Poor tacs, stubborn tacs even, lost the lockerroom in less than a few weeks....
As soon as he left, Monaco has been alive again.

@Savi will be more positive about him given his successes in Belgium.

Honestly I don't know if I can

Purely based on results, he did great. Won the league in his only full season in Genk, and won the league in both of his two full seasons in Bruges.

But at Brugge everyone was relieved Monaco signed him halfway through season 3. Even if results were good, and there was a lot of talent in the squad, the football got worse and more boring pretty fast after probably season 1. His relationship with the players wasn't great either, he alienated captain Ruud Vormer by basically lying to him which in turn angered the fans since Vormer was the most popular player in the team. As Evilo pointed out, he can be extremely stubborn and allergic to adaptation.

My guess is he'll do good things early on but in the long run...I don't know
That's Baldemort away after a year and a half. He was quite unpleasant and didn't really do much. Rangers being a shambles probably has more to do with it rather than any of his own failings but I doubt many will miss him.

only by the way he treated Hagi tells me everything I need to know

Hagi isn't the first player to have not been allowed to play for Rangers because it would trigger a contract extension they couldn't afford, I wouldn't take that personally.

He did break his foot playing for the team, that was no way to be treated

Looks like Motta is getting fired and replaced with Tudor

Gotta wonder some of these guys moving on. On the one hand it’s obviously tough to reject United or Juventus when they come calling, but sometimes the grass isn’t always greener. I suppose the payday also helps, but with Amorim for example it’s as though he couldn’t wait to get out of Sporting.

Peter Vermes out as Sporting KC manager, by far the longest tenured MLS coach in history and probably nobody will even come close, 609 matches (16 full seasons plus few weeks of this one)
