I'd be happy to have him still. He's a useful player. But getting a pick for him instead of losing him for nothing is hardly the end of the world.
This is the common narrative but why do we have to lose him for nothing? Why not make room for a guy who the team has spent time developing and looks like a player your head coach would like? The team should look to get younger and faster and Pods is now one of the faster players in the league and he combines that with good size and physical play. More importantly, he is actually good defensively. He's a player Tocchet did like and would like even more this season. But management thought Sprong might be a better fit?
