Management Thread | Blurst of Times

i think the only reasonable path forward is to place aquilini, jr, allvin, tocchet and probably like castonguay, granato and the golfing doc harry sese in stocks in robson square so we can all go pelt them with rotten fruit

Harry doesn’t even live here!

But I’m down with that.

The management team is probably above average when it comes to roster management, trades, contracts, pro and amateur scouting. Issue they are absolute ass with PR & media management and if they don’t fix that, that will lead to their downfall.
This we agree on. Ruthervin's PR has been very poor and it's a significant handicap in a hockey-crazy market. These recent leaks in particular have been very bad.

I'd also split the pro scouting grade with forward pro scouting being quite good, and defense pro scouting being quite bad.

Their defensive pro scouting was good. I don't know what happened.

Well I think they nailed all the D acquisition last season so they can identify good d. I think strategy is the bigger issue because someone the were convinced that size > puck moving.

Yeah they need to recognize that the Vancouver media will gladly run with stories that will burn the team down because they really don’t give a f*** about the well being of the team and fans.

I liked what they did last year but the other two years have sucked. At the end of the day, 1 legitimate top 4 d added in 3 years tenure while paying a ton of futures/buyouts to try and compete, when the entire problem with the team on day 1 was the defense needed a full rebuild, gets them a failing grade from me.

I honestly have no idea what direction this team should now take.

Cant rebuild.
Dont have enough talent.
The players do not like competing together.
Dont have any significant prospects or picks.

Stuck.

I think their pro scouting has still been ok. Forbort has been good for the price, and Myers’ contract is fair-ish. Desharnais was a swing and miss but no team is going to bat 1.000.

The problem has been more on the allocation of resources across the roster, which falls to management.

I don’t have a huge problem with any of our dman in a vacuum. Even Juulsen, but as a hole it’s dreadful.

They haven't done a good enough job, they need PR to spin their way out of it.

Their first 12 months was a dithering mess.

Their 2nd 12 months was solid.

Their 3rd 12 months have is a Benning level defence and trying to trade both top 6 centres. One of whom has been trade bait for 3 years and wants out but can't seem to get away.

I'm not sure how PR is going to make the hockey less dull, the team is simply boring to watch. We have become one of those teams we used to hate to play because the games terrible to watch. Thank goodness for Hughes.

Management might not be making the consistently bad moves Benning made, I guess there is that. OTOH after 3 years is it's hard to say they have a determined plan or a direction they are working towards. Blown about by fate rather than making their own.
