Malkin

I hate Malkin and would only tolerate him in the same way I tolerated Heatley when we acquired him. Grudgingly accept that a player I dislike is on this team.

Trading for Malkin would be huge, but not at any cost.
Even if Pitts decides part ways with him, i think Ottawa would be last place he wants to play. Only reason, is chance to play with Gonchar. Malkin has a NMC (for 2013-14 only), so i guess before season starts he can be moved anywhere ?

We need to make sure we resign Gonchar if we would ever have a chance at Malkin with that being said 5,500,000 for 2 years to make sure Gonchar stays. I know he is old but he will still be a top 4 D we have enough cap to do this

If we could land Malkin without completely gutting our prospect pool and roster, you do it. However, most established elite NHL players don't want play for a small market team in Ottawa.

Were small at the moment but we get bigger every year but in 10 to 15 years we could be considered a big market team with the way the Sens are playing now they are generating more and more interest

I'd trade Anderson, Turris, and a first for Malkin.

I'd consider including Spezza and removing the first, but Spezza's health issues bring his value down tremendously, and a signed, healthy, and improving Turris is a really valuable asset.

On second thought, I'd add Ceci. Partly because I'm not so sure he'd fit in here, and partly because I think he'd be exactly the type of prospect Pittsburgh would covet.

A package of a prime starting goaltender with term and cap friendly salary, a rising second line centre with term and cap friendly salary, a first round offensive defensman, and a first. Seems comprehensive enough to land Malkin, in my opinion.

Re-up Gonchar for two years, and sign Malkin to a huge long term deal with all that cap space we have carved out.

You're not very good at thinking then. Have you ever been to Edmonton, Buffalo or Winnipeg? Would you think he'd want to go to Philly and return to Pittsburgh as the enemy many times each season? Or would he really want to go to Calgary with it's completely inept management?

I am sorry to break it to you guys, but even after Pittsburg gets swept, there is a 0 percent chance of Malkin getting traded. They aren't going to blow up their team because of putrid goaltending and some guys taking the night off.

You forgot the cap going down significantly.

Malkin for (Lundqvist/Miller+/Luongo/Schneider/Anderson)

expect the trade talk to pick up

How much is it going down? It is a shame we didn't resign Bishop and move him to a team like Pittsburg or Phil who desperately needs goaltending more than insane offence.

....all that to get Malkin for, at best, one season?

So we have one goalie who isn't ready to be the starter yet is thrust into that role, no second line center, and lose a top prospect or our top line center?

Hells no!

Unless you want the Sens to be picking in the top 5 of the draft for the next few seasons...

Could you imagine a centre depth of Spezza - Malkin - Zibanejad - Smith/Pageau

Dear lord.

Two first line centres! With Malkin, Spezza, and Karlsson, we would become deadly offensively. Ceci is forgettable given he hasn't played a minute for us. And Lehner is solid enough to warrant giving prime Andy up for prime Malkin.

For one season?

I know that it would never happen, but could you imagine Pittsburgh moving Crosby?

Turris, Cowen, 1st 2013, 1st 2014++ from ussss...

For one season?

I trust that IF Bryan Murray acquires Malkin, he'll extend him. Don't forget.. next year is likely his last.

He wouldn't shed serious cap space, retool, and parlay assets into Malkin without extending him. There's no way Murray rides off into the sunset with Malkin jumping ship simultaneously.

Maybe not. But maybe they should consider blowing up their team because in 8 years they've only managed to win 1 Cup with what many call the two best players in the game on their team.

If the Pens can resign him they will if they know he wants to leave they will trade him, its really that simple.
You just dont trade 1 of the 3 best players in the game.

He's 26 years old for christs sake.
If you ONLY have he and Crosby on the same team for the next 6 years you have a chance to win it all with some good goaltending.

If he wanted to leave and he wanted to come to Ottawa (that's the only scenario in which we would have an opportunity since no team will trade kings ransom unless he's going to resign - and all Malkin has to do is say nah i probably wont sign in ottawa boom non existant no trade clause invoked.)

so that having been said if he was leaving and wanted to come here (among 3 or 4 places that you would have to assume we'd bid against) then assuming Pittsburghs needs are in any deal a goalie, a center, and good wingers.

Anderson or Lehner
Turris or Zibinejad
Their choice of any winger on the team or in the system.
1st rounder this year.

Given their requirements i dont know what more we could offer that doesnt just become totally absurd, although this is silly enough and still might not be good enough.
ie. higher impact winger going back.

again this is crazy talk.
