Imo that’s nuts. Malkin is in the tier with the all time greats. Malkin was key to a three time Cup club, include a Smythe. Will have 1400+ points and 500+ goals. Easily top 100, and arguably much higher (imo)What do you think of the fact that NHL didnt choose him in the top 100 all time?
saying Malkin was a bit better is enough proof that you never saw him playI don't know if these players get compared that often but maybe they should as they are quite similar and unique in their own ways. They both were the second best forward in their team as they played with a top 3 superstar center, have similar build and similar point production.

Malking was a bit better during the regular season but the roles reversed in the playoffs.
Which one would you choose?
Obviously stated in the op, but he has been better in the playoffsWhat's the argument for Rantanen here?
Obviously stated in the op, but he has been better in the playoffs
Debateble is extremely generous. Rantanen has put up points in the playoffs, but he's never been as dominant as expected. Not only is is much easier to score in today's era, but Rantanen in 2022 was seen as disappointing despite the point totals.I'd say that's debatable.
I'm sure scoring has been higher in the playoffs in Rantanen's first ten seasons than it was in Malkin's first ten.
He's never had a playoff run as good as Malkin's '09 run and he's generally played with better linemates.
Lopsided result.50-0!
