Muzzin overtakes Regehr in the Kings Top-4, partners with DD to start the playoffs
I can see that.

My predictions are more pessimistic:

Kings will NOT win the Pacific, and they will NOT win anything in the playoffs. We will struggle to score goals 5-on-5 all year, although I think special teams will be a strength. We'll win games because of those special teams and because of Quick, but it won't be enough to win the division and it certainly won't get it done in the playoffs. Really, after watching last night's game, it's clear that we are the same team we were in the playoffs: not particularly good. We won games on Quick's heroics, not on the strong systemic play that won the Cup in 2012.

The problem is our defense's lack of speed. Mitchell looked painfully slow last night, Regher is if anything slower than last year, and Greene has always been limited by his lack of footspeed. This creates the same problem we had in last year's playoffs: our defense backs off WAY too much. They've got their heels on the red line most of the time, and they're far too much separation between our forwards and defense. This means that our three forwards are always outnumbered when they try to keep the puck in the zone, and other teams get a lot of time and space to break out. We're not going to be able to suffocate teams like we did in 2012, and we'll concede a lot of opportunities against from the rush.

The Kings will be a very frustrating team to watch this year.

Key word being BOLD

1. Doughty wins the Norris
2. Quick wins the Vezina
3. Frattin scores 30+ goals
4. Kings re-sign Mitchell to an extension
5. Dwight King will play 20 games minimum on the 1LW
6. Nolan, top 3 in hits per game
7. Kings win the Stanley Cup, Again! :yo::yo::yo:

Go ahead and quote yourself and give us your honest assessment.

Well, I was just a TAD off on Frattin, :sarcasm: as well as Nolan and Mitchell, but I was pretty damn close with King and other predictions are still within reach.

I'm gonna give myself a C-

Some of these aren't so bold, but I wanted to put these predictions out there anyways:

Doughty wins the Norris
The Kings win their second division title (wow, that is pathetic)
Carter scores 40 goals
Clifford will not be on the team after the trade deadline
The Kings will acquire a defenseman at the trade deadline
Brown has a down year, really down (I hope I'm wrong)
Quick finishes 2nd in the Vezina to an east coast goalie he should have beaten
Pearson will be this year's "Toffoli"
Toffoli will have a fantastic year in Manchester, and not play a game for the Kings
The Sharks will be the only real competition for the Kings for the Pacific title as Vancouver and the _ucks both take a step back

Very hit and miss:

Doughty is not going to win the Norris, and had an up and down year
No division title for the Kings, thanks to an AWFUL January
Carter has been very good, but will get nowhere close to 40 goals
No defenseman at the deadline, but word is we were looking for one hard
100% right on Brown, unfortunately
Quick lost any chance at the Vezina when he was injured
After a rough couple of call-ups, Pearson has been great
Toffoli was great in Manchester, but he played most of the year in LA
Was right on Vancouver taking a step back, but the Ducks continue to surprise me.

I expected much more from the Kings offensively

the Kings won the SC as a #8 seed. Jinxing is not possible anymore.

My predictions, ... er... jinxes are:

Kopitar scores 40
Frattin and Carter score 30 (each!)
Quick wins Vezina
Doughty scores 18 (but is not finalist for Norris for some kind of west coast reason)
Kings win Presidents' trophy
HF starts *****in' about "boring hockey" again as the Kings cruise to their 2nd Stanley Cup in June 2014, sweeping Washington (BOLD)

^^^^ what a moron!

(...and I will probably get infracted for insulting myself)

I'll one-up you and say Trevor Lewis = 20 goals.
Kopitar 99 points
LA makes the wild card spot then slaughters everyone else on the way to the finals (I still don't think we're a "regular season dominance" sort of team but i'd love to be proved wrong!)

God ****ing damnit.

Really lol at all the scoring predictions, who knew our offense would suck this year after last year :P

Kings win the Pacific
Quick wins the Vezina
Doughty finishes 2nd to Karlsson for the Norris
Carter scores 40
Kopitar has his best all-around season
Stoll sucks yet again
Clifford regresses even more
Toffoli and Pearson are regulars by the end of the season

Some thoughts...

1. I don't know if Drew will ever win a Norris, like I've said for awhile, Drew doesn't show up for a Thursday game against Nashville or a Wednesday night game in Winnipeg enough to win a Norris.

2. I don't think it's a talent question with Carter, he was injured for a bit and has been towing anchor10 for much of this season. If he had a better center or was playing center himself for 82 games, he would be close to 40.

3. Stoll has played his role pretty well for most of the season, was much better this year than in the previous few years. No problem with him.

4. Clifford did regress more, I had high hopes when he was drafted but he is going to be nothing more than an average to below average 4th liner.

5. I like Toffoli and Pearson a lot, they should have been up the entire season.

Carter scoring 40 is a bet I'll make every year.

Me too.

Carter was dealt a really tough hand this year. MR's play completely fell off a cliff and then when he was with Kopitar they were literally the only guys on the team scoring, and that is tough on anyone, even players the caliber of Kopi and Carter.

I think if the Kings re-sign Gaborik and have Gaborik and Kopi occupying the top defenders and checkers from the other teams there will be plenty of good opportunity for Carter (he should also still play #1 PP with Kopi and Gaborik). But the Kings may need to bring in someone to play with Carter, not sure DL and DS trust Toffoli and Pearson both playing 2nd line.
