Winning is fun. Scoring is fun. Fleury trying to fight is fun. The powerplay looked much better, and the defense wasn't horrible. Bylsma is still infuriating, but it is what it is.

You think? Second PP scored, which was nice. Top PP . . . I suppose 1 of 5 is 'better' given that they'd been clicking at 11% since Lestink's return.

It looked better after the first attempt. We were generating a lot of opportunities and moving the puck well.

I wanted a Fleury fight! Sure he could have injured himself, but i still wanted it and i'm sure everyone else either wanted it or were curious how Fleury would handle himself.

Wouldn't want to be PK Subban after this one

a) he played like garbage
b) Therrien noticed
c) Therrien was doing that "I ain't even mad" thing at the end of the game, which means he'll be going nuclear momentarily

Anyways,

JJ and Malkin were awesome and the defense, aside from Scuderi, was uniformly excellent, stray giveaway by Niskanen notwithstanding.

+Maatta, he always bounces back. After a bad shift, after a bad game.
+JJ's line(s)
+Letang/Scuds looked better for the first time in a while
+Martin back up to speed pretty fast, covering up for Bruce's tomfoolery
+Pyatt playing smart and well
+Adams was not as awful as usual

What does he need to defend himself from?

He did nothing wrong, again, and somehow it's his fault.

He again gets suckered/attacked for clean play.

Orpik was a plus this game.

+ IcedCapp for having the PGT up at the end of the game so that there was no animosity or snarky comments.

What was Orpik's game misconduct for, abuse of official? The 10 was just to get him off the ice, but he was also awarded a game misconduct, which can only be given for specific reasons.

My guess is the answer is somewhere in here

Rule 39 - Abuse of Officials
...
39.5 Game Misconduct Penalty – Game misconduct penalties shall be assessed under this rule for the following infractions:

(i) Any player who, after being assessed a misconduct penalty, persists in challenging or disputing the ruling of an official.

(ii) When a Coach or non-playing person uses obscene, profane or abusive language or gesture directed at any on or off-ice official or uses the name of any official coupled with any vociferous remarks, after already being assessed abench minor penalty (39.3 (ii)), this Coach or non-playing person is to be assessed a game misconduct and the situation reported to the Commissioner for further action. When this type of conduct occurs after the expiration of the game, on or off the ice, the game misconduct shall be applied without the necessity of having been assessed a bench minor penalty previously.

(iii) Any player who deliberately applies physical force in any manner against an official, in any manner attempts to injure an official, physically demeans, or deliberately applies physical force to an official solely for the purpose of getting free of such an official during or immediately following an altercation shall receive a game misconduct penalty and the guidelines set out in Rule 40 – Physical Abuse of Officials are to be applied.

(iv) Any player who, having entered the penalty bench, leaves the penalty bench prior to the expiration of his penalty for the purpose of challenging an official’s ruling, shall be assessed a game misconduct penalty. He shall also be automatically suspended for the next three (3) regular League and/or Play-off games of his Club. This rule does not replace any other more severe penalty that may be imposed for leaving the penalty bench for the purpose of starting or participating in an altercation. See Rule 70 – Leaving the Bench.

(v) A minor penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct plus a game misconduct shall be imposed on a player or goalkeeper who throws his stick or any part thereof, or any other piece of equipment or object outside the playing area in protest of an official’s decision.

(vi) Any player, Coach or non-playing person who throws or shoots any equipment or other object in the general direction of an official but does not come close to making any contact. This action may occur on or off the ice.

(vii) In general, participants displaying this type of behavior are assessed a minor, then a misconduct and then a game misconduct if they persist with this type of behavior.

Any player, goalkeeper, Coach or non-playing Club personnel penalized under this section may be subject to supplemental discipline under Rule 28.

I'll grant that it was relatively better but reserve final judgment until Lestinks stops Lestinking on the PP.
