The other and true way is the Flyers capitalized on Oiler turn overs and did an amazing job of isolating the D and creating odd man situations in front of the net.

This was the worst game the Oilers played in years and is such an outlier that unless they play like again tomorrow you just forget this game and move on.

Yikes, extremely frustrating game. Connor looked like shit, understandable I guess. Hyman really needs to be shuffled down the lineup. I thought we had already done that before the break? Would have liked to see J Skinner with Drai and Arvy, or Savoie I guess now? Not sure, but woof that was bad and yeah Knob doesn't really seem to have a clue with the forward lines right now. Hopefully we can get something going tomorrow.

I absolutely hate Stu, but the goals against today weren't really on him. Sure be nice for a save here and there, but like Christ, we were horrendous defensively. Bouch is absolutely atrocious. I can't believe people were thinking he should have made team Canada. He would have been absolutely eaten alive.

Bouchard is fine. His warts aren't even really warts if mistake we make doesn't go in the back of the net.

Even with him playing poorly this year, and all our mistakes always going in due to our goaltending, he's still a huge net positive.

Thing is - he's got upside that's absurd - literally outscored Makar in less games in the playoffs. I get that he's frustrating at times, but you keep Bouchard almost no matter what. No lateral moves - if you're trading Bouchard you better be winning that deal hands down.

I see people, myself included talking about the piss poor defensive play more than anything, i dont see anyone saying Skinner was anywhere close to good today. I do see people ignoring the way the team played in front him though and just spitting out his SV% like it exists in a vacuum.

Like this was the worst game the Oilers played in the post covid era bar none.

You guys are so biased in your hate of all things skinner that you think anyone providing commentary on anything that doesn’t paint skinner in the worst light is defending him. I never once said anything in defence of skinner, he played putrid, the whole team did. This was the worst the team has played since before covid. That doesn’t mean it’s all skinners fault.


But you guys don’t want to hear that. Thing is - you hope your starting goaltender that you're banking on for a Stanley Cup can keep you in it and steal one for you against a bad team that typically has basically no finish. A team that got shut out by 4 teams straight. Particularly when coming in he had only been above .900 twice in his last 9 games, all the while the team has had dominant defensive metrics for that time frame.

Im still laughing at the 2-on-0 goal. It’s not like they undressed him and he had no chance. He played like that he’d never played the position before and focused solely on the puck carrier. His only reaction was to flop and kick his back legs out after the pass was made and wound up not even tracking the pass. It’s like he didn’t even see it was a 2-on-0.
