Bettman would never allow it. Teams would just settle for a tie and park the bus, making the second half of the third period dull.
It'd be the opposite I think. Right now you have nothing to lose by parking the bus and waiting for overtime. In fact, you reduce your risk considerably. You'll end up with at least 1 point, and if you win, you still get the full 2 points. So there is no point risking going on the offensive when you're tied with 10 minutes left in the game. The best teams with the most skilled players have an even greater advantage in OT as well.

Since the amount of points given increase by 50% (from 2 to 3) when a game is tied, both teams are incentiviced to play for the OT.

3vs3 in the regular season isn't usually that exciting, because there is just 1 point on the line out of a possible 164, and you can just play it out and finish thee game in a shootout anyway. It is not really comparable to a 3-game round robin format where every point is crucial.

A tie is a f***ing terrible way to end any competition, whether it's hockey or monopoly. Ridiculous to me any fan would actually prefer that kind of sports blue balls edging.

Also living for the sour cream and onion crusted skinnyfat Internet hockey commentator telling a Stanley Cup and Hart trophy winning/current favorite that he played that play wrong. If McDoofus wanted to win the game himself he had plenty of opportunity to have done so earlier.

I mean I’d be exhausted too if I spammed the speed boost button every shift and tried to go end to end with it every time I had the puck.

He realizes this tournament has no impact on the Hart voting right?
