The idea with Blackwood shouldn't be to replace or supplant Skinner. It should be to form a tandem with Skinner.

Skinner's biggest problem is he's being asked to play ~60 games when he should be playing 40-50. Calvin Pickard isn't a guy that can play a 1B role, he's a backup, pure and simple.

The challenge is going to be that if we really do end up needing goaltending help - and it looks like we might - then that's really going to eat into the quality of RD we can acquire at the deadline. The forwards are fine.

Skinner cant also handle any kind of pressure in tandem with anyone that have the potential to steal his job. He at best when nobody challenge his game.

I believe it a mistake to f*** around in that regard, if Edmonton make a move, it better be with the mindset of keeping Pickard who we know can handle being the second guy.

I still say vanecek. I was pushing for vej but now he's top 10 on several stats and is the starter. Blackwood would be great. I'll toss ingrim into the.xonversation too.

I’m sure any offer for Vanecek would be accepted if it opens a spot in net for Askarov but I doubt that’s the case.

These threads were started by posters cherry picking the first handful of games of Skinner's season.

You're reinforcing my argument. I'm just pointing out that things have normalized.
Exactly. If we're going to cherry pick stats to show that Skinner sucks, then we have to look at the cherry picked stats that show he doesn't.

Truthfully, regardless of the numbers over the last 6 games, Skinner has just looked much better. He's looked like a better goalie, and isn't making the mistakes he was a month ago.

He was always going to bounce back. He's done the exact same thing the last two years - absolute garbage October, better November, pretty good the rest of the way.

I'd still like to improve on Pickard though.

I didn't think Skinner's overall game was that bad in October. I do feel he shouldered too much of the blame for the egregious defensive play in front of him.
