Series Talk: [M2] Carolina Hurricanes Vs [M3] New Jersey Devils (CAR Leads 2-0)

Recency bias is pretty incredible. With their spot locked in the last 3 games the Canes have looked like complete ass, but just before that they absolutely dominated the Caps, likely 2nd round opponent.

Worth pointing out the Caps were on cruise control themselves at the time of that game, wouldn’t put much stock into it

Might be the least talked about series going into round 1, watch it be the best one randomly. Devils/Canes usually provide the most insane moments of a round besides 2023. Hell, even that ended on a OT series winner.

lol no they were not, they were in full “Ovi record chase” and “eastern conference 1st seed” push still. If they were on cruise control they wouldn’t have gotten all pissed and bitchy and moaning and resorting to fighting every 2min because they were getting beat. I don’t put much stock into that game or any in the last month or so, none have any relevance to playoffs here going forward

Who was allegedly challenging them for the EC 1 seed? They have been checked out for the better part of the last month+.

How many Caps games did you watch this year? You might be the only person who thinks that the ovechkin goal chase = full team effort

I reserve the right to have my feelings hurt by whatever happens this series and therefore change my opinion, but if the Devils beat the Canes I’ll probably bandwagon them. Noesen and Pesce are two of my most favorite recent Canes and I wish them very well.

All playoff hockey is welcome hockey. Especially in the 1st round. It's wallpaper if nothing else and a chance something surprising happens while you wait an hour for a better series. Although I don't see it in this one. Of all the polls here this one seems the most lopsided. Eh the Vegas/Wild one is as or more lopsided.

Going for Canes in 5 here. Not that either team is going to go far, but both have some major problems that were fortunate that the rest of the East was brutal. Carolina's problem is losing all the depth in the off-season from cap restrictions and not necessarily recovering from losing all of those. Then pile on the fact that goaltending has been mediocre at best, and you've got an iffy team in the end. Nonetheless, they are healthy and talented enough that they should beat a Devils team that is losing its best players in Hughes. Not only that, but we seriously have no idea how healthy or ready Hamilton is, and there are some reports that Markstrom is playing through something as well. That's just too much to ask for, especially for a team that plays as heavy as the Hyrricanes do. Because of those reasons, the Devils will win game 3 or 4, but still lose the majority of games.

Are we talking about the Caps Canes SO game where the caps dominated the play the entire game that was without arguably our best defenseman too?

Got a feeling the devils are gonna put up a good fight but fall short in the end.
