just so happy as a Habs fan to see how far the team has come in a short period of time. And the series has a perfect amount of heat to it, what a blast to watch. Hoping to win 3 in a row but we could lose tomorrow and I'd still come away feeling excited for the future
Yeah I hope the players feel the same way. It’s been a great season for them. Maybe even like a couple standing O’s for Ovechkin and letting him score one just for old time’s sake. Play fake D and everything like the All-Star game. Would be such a fitting end to a great season.

Whining about the officiating should be a suspendable offense (for either team). It makes these threads completely unreadable. Maybe there ought to be a contained thread for all officiating-related discussion so the other threads can breathe and cover anything/everything else.

Anywho, hoping Protas comes back for Game 5. He's arguably the Caps' best player and can cover for Ovechkin's defensive deficiencies in a way Beauvillier won't, not to mention he's a big part of our PK.

I picked Caps in 5 before the series started and feeling good about the prediction headed into Wednesday. We're back at home where Carbery has last change and can play the matchup game, also the physical game should start paying real dividends in the series.

Hutson is a very talented young player but he's been directly responsible for multiple Goals Against and has been a bit soft this series. "Welcome to the playoffs" moment for him. And Dobes doesn't look too confident between the pipes.
Whichever team loses, you'll find their fans complaining about the refs. Immediately followed by the other team's fans complaining about the fans who are complaining about the refs. And my favourite - the HF scholars with their deep thoughts on "Habs/Caps fans".

Don't let it get you down. Think of this place as a combination sports bar and daycare.

I picked Washington in 6. Montreal's young roster is looking good, but playing five rookies makes it improbable they'll get much farther. Dobes allowed a couple of goals that screamed rookie mistake, but that's where this team is at. The kids are learning and improving, so all good.

Yes agreed caps fans need to stop whining and Hutson the calder trophy winner has been excellent best d man in the series by far.

Which year was “Prime Lucic”? I mean production wise Wilson just beat Lucic’s best.
This year Wilson surpassed Lucic's best year point total with 33 goals and 32 assists. Lucic had some great early years in Boston but he was horrendous in Calgary and should have performed much better in Edmonton with the talent he was playing with. I think if you were to put Wilson right now with Mcdavid and Draisaitl he would be putting up some big numbers.
You realize that Lucic both 60pts + was in a way lower scoring area and that he was the pts leader on his team in one of those year. Lucic was way more dominant in his prime even if it was shortsighted

And if you dig deeper on Wilson production, it's really easy to see that it's not sustainable and he will regress next year. In fact, all caps players will probably regress next year.

Lucic was a meathead. Wilson certainly has his meathead moments, as we saw in game-3, but he at least has the mental capacity to own his mistake afterwards, something Lucic was never able to do.

... different people from the same fan base can have different opinions

Just have to go take a look at most of HFHabs thread to realise that......also easier to follow the same narrative for a group of 10 fans than for a thousand

The fun part is that it’s the same people saying these opposing things

If I were to look at my own post history, I'm sure I could find many occasions where I've contradicted myself and/or said one thing only to say the opposite thing as early as just a day later. In my own case it's because I don't remember what I've said on a regular basis, and will come to the opposite conclusion that I did the day before sometimes. It's actually kind of funny. I don't imagine it's any different for a lot of people. Not saying they have memory issues like me, but people are allowed to change their minds about things.

Game 1 Hutson was responsible for the 2nd Goal Against (soft play up boards ripped off by Strome then loses his mark on Beauvillier) as well as late to defending Ovie in front of the net on the OT winner.

Game 4 was directly responsible on another soft board play by Bueavillier and then lost his mark on the Strome goal.

He's -3 in the series and was -1 in Game 1 and -3 in game 4.

Talented player but if you think he's been the "excellent best d man in the series by far" you're either not being honest or not watching.

FAKE NEWS

Never thought I would see Habs fans bringing up Lucic of all people in an attempt to downplay Wilson’s impact on the game. Crazy stuff.
TBH both are/were very good players and power forward/physical types. Every GM would immediately take either when in their prime. Opposing fans often hate them but every GM would love to have either in their prime. I’m not a Boston or Caps fan but I’m objective enough to admit it.

Of course, both are tremendous players and unique in the NHL. I just thought Lucic was a forbidden sweard word for Habs fans :D

Interesting fact Lucic was almost a Hab. Im sure those Habs fans you are speaking of would have changed their tune if he did choose The Habs. He chose The oilers in the end and as it turns out it was good news for The Habs since his game fell off a cliff but still.....

First of all, that’s a blatant lie. Second, the Habs have by far the most haters of any fanbase on this site; people make entire alt accounts dedicated to anti-Habs trolling. Pointing to takes from posters who hate the Habs is meaningless. The fact that you’ve resorted to lying proves that you know it wasn’t clean.
Delusional post is delusional.
