you are all arguing over the hit and personally I don't care about the hit. I care that the refs let the play continue. There was a player in distress and the puck was in the Washington end of the ice. It should have been blown dead.

I get it, it went against The Habs so the haters throw a party but those are same guys that will be here crying in the next round if/when it happens to your team.
so a hockey player that just got wrecked, gets up and skates to the bench under his own power is a player in "distress"? Bro, you are either a complete homer with blinders on or maybe soccer is a better sport for you to be watching. Its not only hockey but PLAYOFF hockey...suck it up

But if hes not back to scoring next season, theres no way you can invest in such a player unless its short term for relatively cheap.... Tell yourself Hutson and Demidov = ~$20M cap hit in a few years, and they already have $24M from the first line. Gotta spend wisely going forward even with the cap going up.

Hell, even if he does score on, say, a 30 goal/55 point pace next season, I think hes going to badly age with his injury history. Especially being tall, it doesnt help.
You're absolutely right. His height and injury history don't do his case any favours, and knee injuries are problematic even for younger players to get through (Dach is an example of this).

If we need to decide between keeping other pieces like Hutson and Demidov, vs paying Laine, I'm dropping Laine like a hot potato.

It's definitely hard to find guys like Wilson. They are far and few between and perfect for the playoffs. He's better than a young prime Lucic and not as good as a prime Cam Neely. I wish the Habs had him.
Wilson is definitely not better than a prime Lucic. Not even close in fact.

Love the nastiness in this series... wish Habs had played Xhekaj in the first two games but we have a stupid twit for a coach. We ain't done yet! (I hope)

Yes, Wilson was a far better skater and a better shit disturber. That's about it.
I don't know about Wilson being a better shit disturber.

As a Habs fan, I f***ing *loathed* Lucic down to by bones. Wilson is a premier pest, but I think he goes down too gently for me to respect him enough to actually hate him. Say what you will about Lucic, but at least he didn't dive.

lol he isn’t after your respect.

This year Wilson surpassed Lucic's best year point total with 33 goals and 32 assists. Lucic had some great early years in Boston but he was horrendous in Calgary and should have performed much better in Edmonton with the talent he was playing with. I think if you were to put Wilson right now with Mcdavid and Draisaitl he would be putting up some big numbers.

The thing about Wilson is he can actually play extremely good hockey. Dude put up 30 goals this year! When other teams are searching their scratch list for goons to counteract him .. man that’s exactly what we want. Go ahead, make your team slower and dumber just to chase a fight that’ll never happen and wouldn’t affect the outcome if it did.

Amidst all of this discussion regarding the hit, reffing, etc, I just want to say I really do hope Carrier is okay and is able to recover. He looks like he's been a great player for the Hab and I would hate to see him miss time.
The dude has been hit 20 times in this series. They showed the stats before the final hit by Wilson.

I doubt he will be back.

A game changer that's for sure.......still hate him 😂 😂

Whining about the officiating should be a suspendable offense (for either team). It makes these threads completely unreadable. Maybe there ought to be a contained thread for all officiating-related discussion so the other threads can breathe and cover anything/everything else.

Anywho, hoping Protas comes back for Game 5. He's arguably the Caps' best player and can cover for Ovechkin's defensive deficiencies in a way Beauvillier won't, not to mention he's a big part of our PK.

I picked Caps in 5 before the series started and feeling good about the prediction headed into Wednesday. We're back at home where Carbery has last change and can play the matchup game, also the physical game should start paying real dividends in the series.

Hutson is a very talented young player but he's been directly responsible for multiple Goals Against and has been a bit soft this series. "Welcome to the playoffs" moment for him. And Dobes doesn't look too confident between the pipes.
