Enough of the "I just want blatant things called" or "it's a safety issue" or "it's about consistency" bs. Fans of every team want calls to go their way and complain when they don't get them and will justify whatever non-calls or calls that benefit their teams.

It's so tiring hearing the same shit and complaining about it in every direction. If the refs are bad in every sport maybe it's not the refs but your expectations that need to change. Stuff happens, calls are missed and not missed, if you let it go I guarantee you'll enjoy watching the games much more.

Team defence? The guys who play defence? Please elaborate. I watched both games and saw the Habs as the better club both times.,” I don’t see anyone (outside OV) on the same tier of player for sure as Caufield, Suzuki, Demidov.,

I don't like the defense. Savard is on his last legs. Carriere is looking soft with the physicality. Guhle should play his strong side, imo. Hutson still doesn't defend hard enough.

Then there is team defense. Laine doesn't have it. Demidov is getting a tough learning curve.

Don't think the Caps look great. But the physicality makes a difference. I'd pick the Caps to score the greasy goals in this series because of all these factors.

TOTAL GASHB+/- after game 2:
Ovechkin +6
Laine +4

GASHB+/- = +1 for a category win or tie (if ≥1) in the categories of Goals, Assists, Shots, Hits, Blocked shots and +/-.

GASHB+/- per 60 after game 2:
Ovechkin +11.5
Laine +10.3

Analysis after game 2:
- Laine improved his GASHB+/- per 60 but mainly due to having same GASHB+/- (+2) in game 2 as in game 1 but with less ice time,
- Ovi fell closer to Laine due to having a pretty average game 2 with only shots and hits as his highlights.

Not going to lie, having insulated myself in various Caps friendly communities as a lurker, I didn't think any fan base could whine as much as us about missed calls. The world sure is a vast place.

dang, the habs have 5 guys better than the best capitals player, are more skilled, and are basically just as big as the caps, whose defense sucks.

must be really embarrassing to have not swept us by now.

5 on 5 stats from the 2 games:
High Danger Shots
Habs: 7
Caps: 7

Medium Danger Shots
Habs: 4
Caps: 19

Low Danger Shots
Habs: 76
Caps: 58

Goals Against from Rebounds
Habs: 3
Caps: 0

Power Play Stats:
High Danger Shots
Habs: 1
Caps: 1

Medium Danger Shots
Habs: 0
Caps: 3

Low Danger Shots
Habs: 8
Caps: 1

High danger chances seem to be about the same, but there is a big discrepancy in medium and low danger shots. Also, the Caps seem to have the edge collecting rebounds.

...Habs also have the Advantage in Laine's Played & Laine's Benched... :thumbu:

Although the Canadiens were pushing for the tying goal, forward Patrik Laine did not get a shift in the third period.

Laine, who had an assist in Game 1 after getting 33 points (20 goals, 13 assists) in 52 games in the regular season, had one shot on goal and five shot attempts in 10:10 of ice time the first two periods.

“They’re decisions you make as a coach,” St. Louis said. “I shortened my bench by a lot in the third. … Honestly, I went with the nine or 10 players who I thought could help the cause.”
