The no criticizing the top players in public is definitely coming from above Berube. There is a clip of him somewhere during his time in St. Louis where he is really laying into his players to the media. He has been completely neutered here.

He laid into the players and then did nothing else... maybe he realized that his words are meaningless if he doesn't back it up and he doesn't want to sit the best players.

Sure but if you're a paying fan and the tickets are that expensive, I think it's reasonable to expect a better effort than last night from the players.

I honestly believed Stolarz would be the reason the Leafs had a chance to steal some series. And of course it's Bennett. The only guy worse would have been Marchand, but he thru in an OT winner for the hell of it.

what’s crazy is 3-2 shouldn’t be a crazy insurmountable comeback.
2019 we took a 3-2 lead against Boston after a gutsy win in Boston, we even scored first in game 6…..yet Boston came back and won that game and we saw game 7
2022 we took another 3-2 series lead and won game 5 spectacularly with Matthews scoring off that nice pass off vasi goal. We took a 3-2 lead going into the 3rd thanks to some heroics in the last minute by JT. Blew that on the 5 on 3 + Ot and then we yet again saw game 7 again.
However, this is the leafs. This is Matthews Marner nylander and Tavares. This series isn’t being won, and game 6 isn’t being won either. Completely pathetic

For game 6, just play loose. Most of the outside pressure is gone. Nobody expects them to win. I just hope they have not mentally checked out already.

They have physically checked out based on how they played that game, and I believe mentally as well. Wouldn't surprise me if Matthews has booked his ticket for Arizona, Nylander for Sweden, Marner for the Turks, and Rielly for the Okanogan Valley. I don't think winning a Stanley Cup means as much to these guys as it does to the fans.

Jones should have been our target on D. Big, rh, big shot, offensive skill, 31 years old. Chicago retained 26%. So just 7 million for 6 years.
Instead we get bandaids like Carlo... with no offense. Why because weve paid premium for the core 4 and cant afford better.
So... we continue to deplete our assets paying too much for lower end talent.

Imagine in 3 years if Marner makes 14-15 mill until hes 39 and Barkov is making 10 until 36?

I've been lucky enough to attend many big events, (Carter home run winning the W.S. tops the list) but as a Leaf fan there is nothing better than being in the building when they win a playoff game, even more so if they win in OT. Flip side to that is there is nothing worse than being in the building when they lose, it's brutal and it stays with you.
I've enjoyed watching with either my family or with groups this playoff run, had a lot of fun and the disappointment, like last night, doesn't linger as long.
