They got outplayed all year, that is a reflection on coaching.

Stolarz' save percentage dropped from .926 to .901

Woll went from .909 to .877

This is one of the main reasons they look so bad right now, and also running a system made for 4th liners and expecting the skill players to thrive.

Ironically the 4th liners are playing poorly too right now.
Can we please copy Florida system for system.

It's so logical and good, it makes Keefe and Berube seem like clowns.

I feel like we got opposite spectrum coaches. No difference. The players are the problem obviously, but Berube ain't a top 10 coach.

Fans can see it. Coaching and players can't?

I've been yelling about the drop pass on the PP for literally over a decade now.

It's literally the dumbest thing I can think of and we do it EVERY TIME.
And yet virtually every single team does it on the power play.

Serious commentary? Most of this site is people either whining and moaning and making completely irrational statements, or planning parades and making completely irrational comments. The only commentary that is needed is to say that last night was a bad game, and you have to move on to the next one, because history has shown that the result in one game has no bearing on the result in the next one. The Leafs will play better in game 6. You can only play one game at a time.

Your loved one has been given a maximum of 4 more days to live - it's okay to start planning the funeral and writing the obituary.

Should already have the tombstone phrase picked out. I know I do.
Why not, the narrative for this years failure is already being carefully created snd passed along to the media shills…….

Yea, Florida is the much better team. But I guess that's irrational according to you?

Gadjovich has as many points as Laughton and has played 8 fewer games, Laughton is one of the best producing bottom 6 players.

You expect them to produce more than a 14 point pace... that is atrocious.

Florida is spending 4 million less on a 4th line, we have a $2+ million dollar player in the pressbox (they do too now), we have a bottom pairing that is making almost $3 million more, and goaltending is significantly less as well.

The Leafs had cap savings, but they chose to use them incorrectly.
How about the other 9 years in the playoffs, this isn’t new. Theres only 1 common denominator

This core has failed.

Opportunity after opportunity to change how they are perceived, and all they've managed to do is prove that they are exactly what we all thought they were: specialists in failure.

That's not a "media narrative". That's not being "passed along by media shills".

That's them reinforcing everything that's ever been said about them.

Last night was a cementing of that legacy. Don't blame the media, or fans, for the tone today - they had the perfect opportunity to change that this post-season, with the strongest support cast they've ever had in their time in Toronto, and they still blew it.

Get a grip

When have they had good depth scoring... poor depth scoring and pretending defensive play was the issue has been a common issue every single year too.

They have had enough production from the depth. Domi scored a big goal, Benoit, Patches scored the series clinching goal, OEL scored a couple of goals, Rielly. Matthews had 33 goals this season, he is pacing for 15 per 82 games in the playoffs so far. He needs to contribute much more. The depth has done their jobs, for the most part.

I never said I was the level-headed one. Quite the opposite. I am one of the more obnoxious people here. I know that. Not much different than my actual life. I don't tolerate or accept negativity. I know quite well how adversely powerful it can be. So, as I said, I am fine for people to ridicule me for anything I say here. I have lived my entire life this way, and it has resulted in very positive outcomes.
Pretty awesome, much respect.

Don’t I know it……
Imagine unironically being a bigger fan of a GM than of the team yet instead of following your idol to his new team, you spend your time shitting exclusively on any and all acquisitions made by the idol's former team and rewriting/ignoring facts to support your arguments.

Like I'm embarrassing (and no, I'm no fan of Treliving and am neutral on Berube) but that is REALLY embarrassing.

We don't have the speed, wouldn't get away with the interference defensively and don't have the personnel for a heavy forecheck

I do agree with you that the bottom deserves some blame for sure. That fact alone is a sad indictment of the state of the team.
The stars fade as soon as the going gets tough and year after year different bottom players fail as well.
I’m certainly not a Dubas fan and assign lots of blame for this mess. However I had hoped Treliving would have done better but he has not.
The whole mess is so disappointing
The bottom six are not as good as other team’s bottom six because the top six on the Leafs make too much money, this is what happens when you surround overpriced, underperforming stiffs with what little is left to fill out the roster. We all know this yet the idiots at MLSE keep denying it and running it back because in the end it is about jersey sales…….
