It's sad you think you're the level headed one, all you do is poke everyone with crazy predictions. It really comes off as trolling to me. You can't say anything reasonable, it's full gas, all the time, no matter the circumstance. I'm pretty optimistic too, every game is new opportunity to undo a narrative, I appreciate enthusiasm, but man....
I never said I was the level-headed one. Quite the opposite. I am one of the more obnoxious people here. I know that. Not much different than my actual life. I don't tolerate or accept negativity. I know quite well how adversely powerful it can be. So, as I said, I am fine for people to ridicule me for anything I say here. I have lived my entire life this way, and it has resulted in very positive outcomes.

I let myself get too excited after game 2. Hell, after the 5 minute mark of game 3.

I mean, ya, I'll be back if they somehow pull this series out but it's hard to see that after this beatdown.

Anyways, Xbox Game Pass is absolutely cooking right now so at least I can spend some at that until the Leafs world gets interesting at the draft.

again it's like i said. when neutral youtube people are calling out the leafs for their disgusting play last night i think you need to take a step back and be like maybe something is wrong here.

what most people are angry about is how they basically packed their ball and went home right off the bat, how our captain didn't look irritated, or frustrated or pissed off, or took any kind of accountability, and it's just "well typical leaf fan attitude." which i also have to say pisses me off.

I do not see how someone watches that game or sees highlights and think "yeah. everything is just a-okay, people are over-reacting." I honestly don't see how people look at our Captain and sees how ho-hum he is about this, and not backing it up with his play and think it's okay either. but hey if we win game seven somehow it makes it all better?

stop peeing on my leg and telling me it's raining, people.

So, honestly, I have to ask, would you feel better if Matthews was breaking his stick on the bench or Marner was throwing his gloves? When they have done that in the past (or even argued with each other on the bench), everyone complained about that, as well. I could care less what any of them say or how they look after a win or a loss. The next meaningful athlete quote I hear will be the first one. None of that stuff means anything. They didn't play well. Nothing anyone says after that game, or before the next one, is going to have the slightest bit of impact on the outcome of the next game. So, yeah, you could spend hours breaking down every play in last night's game, just as you could have after games 1 and 2, but it's all meaningless. Fandom is simply emotion in one form of another, so people are fully entitled to vent all they want to today. But it doesn't mean that everyone has to do it, that's all.

Don't give up there is still hope. :wg:

Below are odds of each NHL team making the playoffs, winning the Stanley Cup, and other milestones.

Coaching isn’t the problem, a tradesman is useless without the proper tools, Chief is realizing he doesn’t have a set of Snap On tools, just shiny junk from Princess Auto……
Just ignore him, he only thinks coaching is a problem because Berube is not a Dubas hire. After all, the success this group had under Keefe speaks for itself!

Even Berube has no clue how a team can play a first period like that.

On his explanation for the slow start to such a big game on home ice:

It is hard to explain it. We all have to be better, myself included. You can’t start the game that way. That is a big thing for me. It sets a tone for the game.

I don’t have an answer for you as to why. It’s sports. Things happen.
It's your job pal! There is always a reason why.............find it and fix it. You might want to try separating Matthews and Marner who have a symbiotic suckage relationship in the playoffs.

All you can do is just laugh. Pathetic performance. Matthews and Marner can play in the regular season but once the talent gets better and the game gets harder, they are mediocre. It's like playing NHL on ps5 and you can dominate on amateur mode and then once it goes to legendary its much harder. These guys cant play without time and space and the playoffs throws all that out the window.

Good riddance. Blow this team up
Wonder if they would ever agree to (with a Marner extension) only playing in the regular season?

They get all their money. And a longer summer. At every deadline, we LTIR them, and replace them with players who can play in the playoffs.

They obviously don't enjoy playoff hockey. Could be a win/win.

I've said what i want.
I don't need him to throw a tantrum on the bench but i'd like to know that it bothers him. I'm a sociologist and I study languages so you can really relay a lot of stuff even when spouting the party line. I have shown countless examples of players here. who did that. If Mats Sundin can looked pissed off because the team didn't play well/he didn't play well, if Phaneuf could do it. even when this team was most toxic, I don't understand how after nine years and facing elimination Matthews is just. "yeah well."

and again if you want to sit there and says that means nothing. whatever.

Look, I desperately want to see the Leafs in the Stanley Cup Finals. But when:

- Managements top priority is overpaying talented but seemingly lacking heart players - In order to sell Jerseys and sell tickets to Maximize profit

- Players (not all, but you know who) top priority and focus seems to be what they wear as a fashion statement to the rink that night and their next commercial or modelling gig .

The Stanley cup will forever be out of reach....in my Opinion.

This is all on Shanny and the board - to me over the past 5 years. Profit over production. Need to cut the head off the snake if you every want to take the all important next step and make the top priority WINNING PLAYOFF HOCKEY GAMES.

Right nobody is saying it's alright. Acting out, yelling and screaming is great just to get it out. Of course none of that matters come 8pm Friday. Heck one person was angry during game 4 against Ottawa for Matthews for breaking his stick on the bench. Of course it was Greig's stick but you didn't see anyone retract their statement. Saying they didn't play well but not getting angry is fine. Is the fan that threw his Matthews jersey on the ice a hero because he showed his anger? No that's absolutely ridiculous but in that moment he let it all out, good for him.

It's perfectly fine to have a difference of opinion. I will say that I consider it to be a stretch to argue that any professional athlete doesn't care about an outcome. I think some will simply express their emotions differently than others, or not express any emotion at all. Mario Lemieux was fairly notorious for the latter.

It doesn’t matter if they care or not. What matters is they can’t connect their caring to positive impact when the game is being played. That’s why they’re useless.

Everyone deserves blame, the top 6 certainly deserves a lot of blame.

View attachment 1036476

But the bottom 6 deserve a lot of blame too.

I don't know how no one cares that they are performing so atrociously.

You'd hope that they could help steal a few games, but they can't, it is 100% on the top 6 every single game.
I do agree with you that the bottom deserves some blame for sure. That fact alone is a sad indictment of the state of the team.
The stars fade as soon as the going gets tough and year after year different bottom players fail as well.
I’m certainly not a Dubas fan and assign lots of blame for this mess. However I had hoped Treliving would have done better but he has not.
The whole mess is so disappointing

BTW, my buddy went to this game last night. Just wanted to do something nice for his kid. $1,000 for two upper level tickets online. They left after the 2nd period. He's not some rich dude, he's a teacher. I don't think some of these highly paid players get this at all. They're living in an alternate reality.

Steve Dangle said it best in his YT video about the fans. What 'Noise" is really about
I dont' usually agree with Steve but that segment of the video hit home

At 9minute mark he just hits home

They got outplayed all year, that is a reflection on coaching.

Stolarz' save percentage dropped from .926 to .901

Woll went from .909 to .877

This is one of the main reasons they look so bad right now, and also running a system made for 4th liners and expecting the skill players to thrive.

Ironically the 4th liners are playing poorly too right now.

Weird how scared you are of discussion...

I watched them play all year, there is a reason a lot of people think Stolarz is amazing, and it is not because he had an easy time this year.
