Need a LW to fill out top six. Guys i would love:

High price:
Landeskog
Hoffman

Medium:
Kreider,
Palat,
Lee,

What do we give up to solidify the top six? Backlund +, or Gio?.

Brodie for Landeskog makes so much sense, but both teams would be too gun-shy to do it.
Gio for Landeskog is intriguing. Not saying i would do it, but hes 10 years older than Landeskog.
Backlund plus D prospect for Krieder.

Also have a ton of guys ready in the wings ( klimchuk, poirer, andersson etc.) but most of those guys will demand a roster player +

I have no problem giving up a LW, but I don't think Calgary has anything we really need. I'd rather give you Bailey for a low pick so we open a roster spot and you get a young LW on the cheap.

Landeskog would take Brodie or Hamiton

Avs have a young core.. Gio doesn't make sense for them.

I wouldn't do Giordano for Landeskog, doesn't fit the age range and I'm sure Calgary won't do Brodie for Landeskog.

There's just no cap room long term to add a high priced guy. Bennett and a Goalie will need a big raise next year, so unless this move puts the Flames over the top (ha) it shouldn't happen.

I'd much rather target a guy like Sharp or Kunitz than any of the mentioned players. Sharp would be an especially good get. I don't know why Calgary didn't trade for him last year in the first place.

Ha!

I'm not sure the Avs could afford to do a swap for Brodie, he's a great player but our offense would take a serious hit. Rather keep our captain.

Rangers aren't trading Kreider for Backlund and a D prospect. We have Brassard, Stepan, Hayes, Lindberg all as Cs. Miller can play C as well.

If Ottawa were to move Hoffy its likely, in a package deal to upgrade our center ice position

I don't see why COL wants less than Brodie for Landeskog, their #2 overall captain who's had a load of personal success already at 23.

CGY just drafted a LW at 6th overall and have Johnny, don't sink those assets into another. I imagine Tkachuk gets a big look in camp too

Over the past 3 seasons, Palat scored 110 EV points in 218 played, Landy scored 116 points in 238 games. Also, Palat's defensive game is as good as any winger in the league. I highly doubt the price to get the Czech forward is only medium.

You managed to get awful Backlund proposal and add awful Gio / Brodie proposals.

Why would a team with

Gaudreau
Tkachuk
Shinkaruk
Mangiapane
Klimchuk
Poirier
Frolik
Stajan
Backlund/Jankowski/Monahan/Bennett

possibly need a left wing at the expense of a top-end top-pair D or our best two-way centre?

These guys arent going to help our top 6 offense at all. Why wait for one of these guys to hopefully make it when you could acqyire someone who does?

We need at least two top nine wingers if we want to really be successful this season.

We're are hoping that Shinkurak or Tkachuk can take one of those spots (if not both if we are lucky) otherwise we've got someone like Chiasson or Ferland playing higher than they should be.

I'm more content with us finding a better/cheaper short term option.

Yeah, I don't get it....

Gaudreau is one of the best LWs in the league. So we're talking about a #2 LW. As we have many prospects in the pipe to potentially fill that role, we'd be looking at a stop gap veteran. That's probably the easiest piece to acquire via free agency. A 40-50 point 2nd line LW. We should not be giving up any assets for that.

If the Flames feel this is really the year to compete and none of the prospects are ready, just sign Tanguay for a year or see if Hudler will re-sign for 1-2 years.

How many teams actually have 6 bonafide top 6 players. Most championship teams will have 4 at most, with 2+ tweeners or prospects playing over their heads.

The cap simply doesn't allow you to build a perfect team from top to bottom.

Tkachuk is a LW and one of Bennett or Jankowski are going to need to move to the wing.

Absolutely no reason to give away assets for 1 year, possibly less if Tkachuk or Jankowski are ready.

This is HFboards guys, dont get all bent out of shape. Its a proposal, for fun, maybe a "trade i would make right now on NHL 16!, but not in real life. Brodie for Landeskog + is fair value (see hall for larsson), doesnt mean its a great idea. Discussion is the fun part.

Last 4 cup winning teams :

Crosby hornquist malkin hagelin kessel kunitz bonino

Toews Kane Hossa Panarin Shaw Anisimov

Kopitar Carter Williams Gaborik Brown Toffoli Pearson Richards(lol)

Toews Kane Hossa Sharp Saad Frolik Shaw Bickell (lol)

Top 6 is important. 3rd line is also very important.

I said top 9, not top 6.

There is a difference. I don't mind having genuine 3rd line guys playing in the top six if the chemistry works, or if it gives us three balanced lines.

What I don't like is having 4th line players like Chiasson, Ferland and Bouma playing top six minutes, and to a much lesser extent top nine minutes.

I'm not asking for perfection, merely point out where our team could improve theoretically. I'm well aware of cap limitations. I think we could theoretically be a playoff team this year (gotta see how the new pieces fit in and how Gulutzan does), but if we wanted to go deep, those would be things I would improve on.

I wouldn't bother trading a ton right now, just get a decent stop gap for a 2nd or something. If Tkachuk isn't ready now he will be next season

I could see Neidereiter or Zucker being available from Minny, not sure what their ask would be but maybe something around Backlund could work?

Not moving Kreider esp. for less than primo value or as package for an elite.

Give me a reason to send you Zuc...
