Tufte has 16+8 (24) in 8 games so far this year. He is on pace for 50 goals this season, which is very good for AA High School hockey in Minnesota.

I guess his mom's cooking helps with the production.

He should be playing junior.

I respect his loyalty. He's been playing hockey with many of his teammates since they were little. It's not like Minnesota high school hockey is bad competition anyways.

Minnesota had four drafted in the first round in 2010 and pretty sure all came straight out of high school when drafted.

Did Forbort and Pitlick leave high school early? Not sure, just asking. Think I remember a path change with Pitlick.

Forbort played his senior season of high school at the NTDP. Pitlick(who was first pick of second round), graduated high school the year before his draft year and played his one year at Minnesota State in his draft year.

Playing weaker competition in high school during a draft year isn't necessarily going to hurt a player. It just makes it more difficult for teams to project if a player is really that good or is another David Fischer/Dan DeLisle that is getting propped up by weak competition and can't adjust to a faster level of play. That extra risk means teams tend to move those players down their list a little bit.

Looks like that's only good enough for 5th place on the leader board. There's a kid who's a sophomore who has 40 pts in 9 games!

Jaxon is a good player, but he also plays in Single A, which is small school hockey. He isn't playing against as good of competition as Tufte is. Tufte would easily have similar if not better numbers if he played against weaker competition. Tufte is #1 overall in AA, which iscomprised of the bigger schools, in goals and is tied for #1 overall, with his teammate, in points.

If he keeps this up, he could be entering Bjugstad territory..Red Line has him top 10, he is a real wildcard for this draft as some team is going to look at his size and skill and jump higher to snag him up.

Tufte and Bjugstad. Gotta love Minnesota hockey. Those are some classic Norwegian names. Not to mention Byfuglien. :)

Edit: Just for kicks, does anyone know how he pronounces his surname?

Seems like a really intriguing prospect, will be interesting to follow his ranking and to see where he gets drafted.

Three point night in a 5-2 win over a highly ranked team with a couple high ranked prospects of their own.

Right now I'd say he's in the 25-35 range depending if someone wants to take a flyer on him. He isn't quite as polished as Bjugstad was, in my opinion.
