If this is going to be more of what the Avs target in the lower rounds, I’m okay with it. Even if they find a couple of bottom 6ers every now and again that’s a lot better than the complete useless busts

I've always thought they should target overagers with late picks. At least somewhat.

Theoretically, they are "that" much closer to being NHL ready. Further along in developing their full adult strength and hopefully another year or so further along on basic sound defensive principals which is what these dudes will predominately need. At these rounds we are no longer going to find Pavel Pizzaface or Hank Zetterberg, but Darling Nikki is absolutely doable.

I just didn't think I would need to type out the name "Prishchepov" this many times. Giving me hand cramps.

On the plus side I've actually learned how to spell Prischepov, even if I'd prefer a nickname based on Nikita/Nikki . The guys I never could remember how to spell are Goloubef (just plain didn't respecct him enough to try), Laaksonen (the double a always tripped me up), Laukkanen (the double k), Leschyshyn (wtf?), Namestnikov (the stn), Prpic (the lack of a vowel anywhere in prp), Tjarnqvist (wtf?), and Wiercioch (the cio, also I keep thinking of the Rock in Central Intelligence). Since I've listed them alphabetically, I can assure you I was looking them up while typing this. Some of the dudes stick in my memory because I actually kinda like them...I was pro-Antti and really liked Vlad. The others stuck just because their names were so hard for me to spell correctly. I never did get Curtis' right.

I looked, and the only year from Pierre Lacroix's start as GM until the lock out where the Avalanche DIDN'T draft a player after the 1st round who reached 300 games was '98 and Steve Moore was on his way to becoming a bottom 6er.

Even if they don't become stars it gives you a low cost way to fill a roster hole and they make good trade bait.
