LW Matthew Knies - Tri-City Storm, USHL (2021, 57th, TOR)

Still can't believe Knies didn't get invited to the 2018 NTDP Evaluation Camp, much less make the team. That 2002 US birthyear is pretty bad/mid outside of Sanderson, Beniers, Faber. Could be because he played minor hockey under the radar in Arizona, or he was later blooming as a late 2002 birthday,

Was kind of confused by your post till i realized that you were talking about an event held in March, 2018, when Knies was 15 yo, and playing for the Phoenix Jr. Coyotes 15AAA/16 team. He played three more years of AAA/USHL after that before he started playing for the Gophers. Who knows what he was like way back then?

Just wonder if he bloomed later and had no hype machine behind him because he was playing minor hockey in Arizona

Pacing for 30 goals, 55 points.

Man I remember arguing with people in this thread back in the day. A lot of silly takes. I remember people sayin Othmann would be better and shit 🤣 He will be one of the top power forwards in the league for years to come.

He’s a machine. Gonna teach some of his higher profile teammates what a true compete level is these coming playoffs.

One of the Leafs only “steals” in the last 20 years. Really happy to see his development. Think he’ll top out at 65-70 points and a top six winger
