15 points in 53 games in his first professional season in the AHL. How did he play and what does his NHL projection look like when he reaches the NHL?

He played fairly well on the PK and a little bit better at 5v5 to close out the AHL season. He was ROUGH for months prior to that finish. Struggled in a wide variety of areas:

- puck management
- puck control
- puck protection
- skating in short areas (he’d be a step or two behind the play regularly)
- lost a ton of 50/50 battles
- slow pace of play
- processing speed was slow too


He’s got a lot of hurdles to clear to be anywhere close to NHL ready.

Junior to AHL transition can be tough, especially for large players used to bullying players in junior. Ratcliffe needs a bit more muscle on his frame to go along with the improvements needed to be made listed by TB87.

The Preds have several players up from Milwaukee right now (Sanford, Tomasino, Sherwood), several forwards injured, and just traded Niederreiter and Jeannot. This has left Milwaukee short-handed and playing guys from the ECHL on PTOs. Ratcliffe is a way of plugging a warm body into the Milwaukee lineup to make up for all this.

Is a comparable McCarron of Montreal. Big guy but doesn't seem to have the foot speed to be an NHLer in todays game.
