What is the percentage of Yzerman defenders versus realists?
realists lol. the overwhelming majority of us on the wings board are actual realists. there are several who post there who are obviously there just to troll, and there are a small handful that are obvious cheerleaders (i'm in that group) overall the prevailing sentiment is hopeful, that some moves have been bad, some have been great, most are kinda mid. patience is required, haven't been done any favors by the lottery or the hockey gods. wait and see, great things could be in the pipeline

I’m very curious to see what this kid becomes… always unreal to see young players excel at the level they currently play at but u just never know what happens once they step foot in the NHL.

One thing people can’t argue tho is that his current development and success has surpassed everyone’s expectations… and so far, he has raised his stock more than many players drafted ahead of him

Not just towards you but a general question, where would he go in a re-draft at this point?

I would say it's fair he's moved up from #52 to somewhere in the late 1st, at the very least

Very pleased with the steps he's taken offensively this year. Top speed and passing were needing some work and he's clearly done just that. Defensively he's not a cheater, just remains to be seen if he is strong and evasive enough at the NHL level to handle pressure. If he is, honestly the sky is limit for him

He looks really confident this season

I haven’t seen him play live and also some other players from his draft class but I would automatically assume seeing what he has accomplished so far he would easily be a mid to late 1st rounder as of now and still trending up

actually amazed at how warped your perception of reality it. makes sense tho
I mean I would say the same thing to those acting like Yzerman is right on track.

I also don’t think Yzerman has done a bad job per se. Just not a good or great one. It’s been very average overall and unfortunately that’s not good enough. Great first round drafting, average to slightly below average later round drafting (though we’ll see what Buch becomes), very bad FA and trades.

Regardless, the discourse in the Detroit bashing thread is pointless. None of the opposing teams fans have any clue what they’re talking about, just stopping by to take their shot.

yzerman has made some good trades. got good value out of mantha, bertuzzi and hronek. debrincat was good work. picked up fabbri for a song. probably forgetting a couple smaller ones but outside of the wallman trade he's done good work
