This kid is absolutely destroying the WHL this year. He had a 5 point night with 4 goals tonight and has now amassed 20 goals, 10 assists and 30 points in only 10 games. He is carrying Swift Current along with Heponiemi (26 pts in 10GP). He had a great year last year but most feared he wouldn’t follow it up. Eligible for AHL next year. Skipped over in the 2016 draft.

Was waiting to see how long a thread would take to be made.

For those keeping track at home, this is Steenbergen's 3rd fourth goal game this season. He has played 10 games.

Wrap your head around that.

Hockey Canada never picks overage undrafted players. But they should. It should be about winning.

But can you imagine the top scorers in the CHL being on Team Canada, at the OLYMPICS!?

Most of Tyler's 20 goals been assisted by Heponiemi :D
Hepo assisted 3 of his 4 goals last night.

20 goals,10 assists in 10 games,thats-just-sick.

He haves 10 game cushing, for 1.oo goals per game avg and for 1.50 points per game avg
- so even he doesnt score a single point in the next 10 games,
he is still at 1.00 gpg avg and 1.50 ppg avg...crazy!.

Yeah I kind of suspect he’s getting spoon fed by the kid who’s put up 2 assists per game at every leve of hockey he’s played at.

Seriously, it looks like he’s playing peewee out there. He and Heponiemi just dominate the ice.

Talking about "peewees" WHL this season: top 10 guys

1. 5 foot 10 | 180 (Steenbergen) (f)
2. 5 foot 11 | 188 (Lewis) (f)
3. 5 foot 7 | 155 (Phillips) (f)
4. 5 foot 10 | 140 (Heponiemi) (f)
5. 5 foot 11 | 190 (Bradley) (f)
6. 6 foot 1 | 185 (Gawdin) (f)
7. 6 foot 0 | 180 ( Clague) (d)
8. 6 foot 1 | 200 (Mattheos) (f)
9. 5 foot 11 | 185 (Bajkov) (f)
10. 5 foot 6 | 160 (Hannoun) (f)

7/10 are less than 6 feet tall.

They’re both playing great. Tyler has been creating a lot of space and working for his goals as well. Hippo helps for sure on a lot.

I am curious to hear about him from those who watch the WHL regularly. I wonder who is more responsible for the ridiculous points being put up between him and Heponiemi.
